Magellan Maestro 4200 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan Maestro 4200 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan Maestro 4200

Great product, very readable screen, easy to operate, with all the features needed to navigate.

Magellan shuts off without notice

The map and directions work okay. The magellan shuts off when traveling, especially in heavy traffic. I do not recommend it.

Magellan Maestro 4200 is super

The above merchandise we bought from Amazon is a great way to make sure you get to where you want to go....especially important when you are an older citizen and needing to get to unknown places. Many times we got lost going from Point A to B and now we're assured we'll get there and on time. Thanks.

Good value

Good looking Nav unit is easy to operate. Its reasonably accurate, and has an excellent database of points of interest. It isn't feature-laden like more expensive models; this is a no-frills Nav unit. The map is October 2007, so if you live in an area ripe with development like Las Vegas(well, there USED to be development), then you might be disappointed to find out there are no new map updates for this unit. Final thought on this unit, and it applies to all Nav units, is that frankly I see very little utility in owning a Nav unit unless you travel often to places you are unfamiliar with. Nav units are no substitute for real knowledge and experience of the roadways.

BEST NAVIGATOR FOR BOOBS

I am totally NOT inclined to make technology work. I plugged this is my cigarette lighter and in knew where I was, I put the address I was destined for and it gave me directions. Even with no address I can't get lost because it always has a GPS tracking and I know where I am. It shows me a map and where I am heading. I LOVE THIS!

Garmin StreetPilot c340 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin StreetPilot c340 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin 340

Delivered on time, as advertised. We have a fleet of them all working perfectly. I just wish it had a headphone plug for listening to directions on the motorcycle.

Garmin Support Sucks

Great unit. Garmin support sucks. I uploaded the free map update data and it erased everything. 30-40 minute wait on average to talk to someone on the phone. Email support always generates page error message. I think I will use this now useless unit in an impact experiment from a 50-ft height.

Great little GPS

This is a great GPS unit for the car. In fact my wife has been using it for over a year now to get around in LA, and when it had its screen inadvertently crushed in the glove box, she specifically requested the same unit. Unlike a few other units we have used, so far we have not noticed any map innacuracies or been sent to dead ends. It is responsive, does not have a problem acquiring a GPS lock, and quickly recalculates, albeit with a slightly annoyed tone (that becomes a running joke) whenever driving past the suggested route.

GPS System

This GPS sytem was okay, but it did not show the longitude, latitude or ellavation of any location. Otherwise, it is a good system for finding streets, not all country roads. My husband wanted these features, so I returned this system to the seller.

Great GPS

After researching all models available, I bought this one for my mom for Christmas. She loves it and raves about how easy it is to use. Highly recommended if you are looking for a "plug and play" easy to use GPS with voice narration!

Magellan Maestro 4210 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan Maestro 4210 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

Here's why the 4210 is great

Phew, I'm so glad I didn't listen to the negative customer reviews for the 4210. If you read the item description correctly, you'll see that this system does not have the text to speech capability (the 4250 and other higher end models do), but I'm not willing to pay an extra $70+ to hear the name of the street read aloud. This system has what I wanted: widescreen, thin (0.7"), a lot of Points of Interest (6 million should do), and helpful screen guides (I really like the ETA function). I'm glad I waited for the prices of GPS systems to go down a bit, and I'm very happy with what I got for my money.

Nice GPS

I've been using various types of GPS units over the last nine years and the Magellan 4210 is my latest model. I first purchased the 3250 but only used it for about a week before switching to the 4210. The major differences between the two are the voice recognition commands, the bluetooth connectivity, and live traffic compatibility. The voice recognition on the 3250 did not work very well as it was very finicky in recognizing any commands. The car had to be as quiet as possible, no radio. The bluetooth feature worked well enough but callers on the other end said calls sounded strange. Traffic is not an issue in my locale so this feature wasn't going to be used. Once I saw the 4210 was on sale locally for less, I made the switch and I'm very satisfied with the 4210. All the features function very well and I don't miss anything from the 3250. The larger screen is a must-have. I also spent some time with a TomTom XL One recently and prefer the 4210. I like the flow of the menus better and find the Magellan easier to use. I especially like the ability to find a restaurant by type of cuisine, something you can't do with all other GPS units. Another plus for the 4210 is its size. Very compact and easy to carry around if you don't want to leave it in the car. I didn't use to be a fan of Magellan products but this unit has swayed me. I've even bought the same model for a gift to a family member.

Disappointing!!!!!!!!!!

I can't begin to say how disappointed I am with my Magellan purchase. But let me try. After 10 months the plug for the car charger broke. After 45 minutes on the phone with customer service I am now being asked to ship this in to the repair center in Texas. 10 Months and the unit breaks and now I will have to wait 2 weeks for the unit to be returned. I must say that a GPS is a great tool for a driver. But, if you are looking to buy a unit then you should consider looking at TOM TOM or Garmin or any other company that may build a better unit.

Love it.

This is my Tomtom review: I brought this as an upgrade to my Magellan 2200t, and even through it had more features than my 2200t the directions were terrible. I know that any GPS device is not 100 percent on the money and in a lot of cases it is off a little. The Tomtom was often trying to make me take turns onto roads that I didn't have to take to get to my destination. One time I followed the directions to see where it would take me. I made a right and then just a little while later it told me to make a left. That left would have put me in a ditch and into the woods. And the deal breaker was the way I had to access the Point of Interests (POI). I now have a Magellan 4210 and while driving if I see a POI on the screen all that I have to do is tap the screen to view a list of all the POI in the area. Now with the Tomtom I would have to work my way to the menu screen to see something or find something of interest. Also in bright sun light forget about looking at the screen. And my Magellan screen changes from a daytime screen to a nighttime screen. But I will give them credit for a few things, free map updates, and you can customize the voices. I'm very happy with my Magellan 4210 and even happier Amazon allowed me to return the item. Short but sweet Magellan 4210 review: Brought a Tomtom to replace an old Magellan 2200t big mistake because the Tomtom sucked in my opinion. This 4210 works great and is as accurate as any other, I'm grateful that I was able to return that piece of crap Tomtom. I would highly recommend this GPS to anyone looking for a great toy for the car. Get a Magellan it will not disappoint.

Pretty good unit

I got a 4210 2 weeks ago. Used to have a Roadmate 760 before. 4210 is very quick to run on and get satellite reception. Extremely easy user interface - my 10 year old daughter got it without any instructions. Display is wide, bright and excellent in day light as well as at night. Very compact and easy to carry in a pocket. Will work in pedestrian mode as well - really neat and a nice feature over my previous bulky unit. It has AAA assistance but not detailed information on AAA sites. Does not announce street names like Roadmate 760 did (but I don't care for that feature - it is annoying). Lacks bluetooth connectivity. I have not found any accuracy problems. Bottomline - a pretty good unit.

Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

great unit, but the address book is dated

This is a wonder unit. It's compact, but the screen can easily be read while driving. The sound is loud enough to beat any road or wind noise. The directions are precise. The user interface is easy to navigate. It is cool that i gives you an estimated time of arrival. I have had the unit for about a month and love it. Two small things held it back from being a 5-star product. First, the address book is dated. Several times if I asked it to find a place in it's 'favorites' the place would no longer be in business. It sucks that they charge for the updates. But since most places I have an address for, this isn't that big of a deal. The other issue is that if you start from a parking lot, the orientation of the map before you start can be a little confusing. That said, I'd gladly recommend this gps unit.

Lowest price Garmin with text to speach

This is my third Garmin GPS, my wife trains with a forerunner and I have a Zumo 550 on my motorcycle. We love their product. I wanted a small unit with text to speach (says street names not just turn right etc.) to move from car to car when one or both of us is traveling. This unit is the entry level Garmin for that feature and works just fine in every way advertised. I would repurchase it if lost or stolen.

Well worth the money

The Garmin NUVI 260 is an excellent GPS unit for the price on Amazon.com. I purchased the 260 on another website for 10% higher price (even though that price was a limited-time special offer). I found the 260 so easy and convenient to use that I purchased another one (this time on Amazon.com) for a friend. The 260 is not "all things to all people"; however, for the casual user it is an excellent unit for money (also a Consumer Report Best Buy).

Probably the Best!!!

I just bought a 260 last week and I am totally 100% satisfied with it. All functions are simple to use and it has everything you need at a affordable price. I could care less about the other functions that more expensive ones have. Unfortunately, I bought mine at Best Buy and I got ripped off by 50 bucks, compared to what it is on here. Don't bother buying one anywhere else. It will more than likely be the cheapest here on amazon..

Traveled to Colorado with few problems

We traveled from Michigan to Colorado using our GPS. We were taken to a dead end road in Des Moines. We were able to navigate most places without problems. Sometimes it would call a road by street name and we were expecting a road number. Voice can be annoying at times(but can be muted) especially when you are just getting gas and it wants you to pull a u-turn because you are not on the prescribed route. The best thing was that as the usual map reader, when we were lost the GPS was blamed instead of me!
