Garmin nüvi 205 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin nüvi 205 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin Nuvi Excellent Choice

We purchased this product at a much lower ($30.00 less) price than anywhere else we shopped. We received it 2 days after purchase and use it for every expedition outside our normal driving area. While I've always enjoyed getting "a little lost" it's great to know that I can't get "too" lost. Thanks

great product

Great product, very easy to use. Requires downloading the update before use, takes 5 mins or less. Comes with eveything you need in the box.

NEW ORLEANS VACATION

My family and I visited New Orleans for the first time. We had just bought the GPS and are ecstatic. Don't know how we could ever have vacationed without it. We have bought 3 more for our extended family.

Improvements over Nuvi 200 appreciated

I had to give the Nuvi 205 a 5-star rating because it's better than the Nuvi 200, which has an average of 4.5 stars at Amazon. All in all, I'm glad I got the 205 vs. the 200. Not in any order are the following improvements I appreciated most: The faster screen refresh is noticeable. There's a YouTube video where the 205 is compared with the 200. You can see a huge difference. The redesigned display is more intuitive with arrows vs. "left"/"right". Personally, I think the screen design looks better, too. The ability to import addresses on the computer from Google map is very nice since entering the address via the touchscreen is a bit cumbersome. BTW, the documentation is very, very light. There was no mention of how to use the map importation feature so I appreciated the Amazon product page including the link to download the plug-in. Also, I didn't know I could download more vehicles till I dug around the Garmin website. About text-to-speech, which this unit does NOT have, I don't think I'm going to miss it. Usually I have the radio or iPod blaring, and my car is pretty noisy anyway, so it would be hard to hear the street names called out. In fact, I keep the volume down and rely on the very intuitive display. You clearly see the upcoming street name to turn on and even if there are a bunch of streets bunched up together, the main map would show them all and it would be easy to differentiate the one you want.

Love my New GPS so much I got another!

I decided that I wanted a GPS for my car. Mainly because I had seen a friend use her TomTom to find a place to eat. That was something I didn't know they did. Usually I am a major researcher. I research everything from cars to coffee pots before they are purchased. (let not even talk about the length of time it took to purchase a house and looking at upwards of 5+ a day!) But my husband and I went to Best Buy to get a new TV. I let him do his thing and traveled the store playing with the newest gadgets when I came up to the GPS counter. I started playing with them seeing which would do what. So fun! When a sales man came over I ask to borrow his computer to get on the company website and read reviews, he laughed but allowed it. All 3 units I was looking had had a 4.0 rating or higher. So back to the devices I went. My husband came over as he hadn't seen me in an hour, I told him I was going to get one of them but wasn't sure which. So he started messing with them also. We finally came to the agreement on the Garmin nuvi 205 only because he said he wanted one for his truck also and since they had different colors He wanted black and I got red. After placing them in our vehicles, learning them was a snap. There are directions but I found I didn't even need them. Setting up took no time at all for it to connect and locate me. I am going to get my boss one for Christmas as he goes places all the time and carries map books. He also knows nothing beyond checking email on a computer but I am sure that he will have no problem with this little gem!

TomTom Carrying Case for the TomTom One v.3 GPS

TomTom Carrying Case for the TomTom One v.3 GPS

Great product

This has worked flawlesssly since recieved. The only problem was along freeway I-39 in Rockford when construction moved an exit and the unit tried to exit us at a non-existant ramp. We have been impressed with how many POI's are loaded in the unit. Anyway it is keeps my wife happy and I am no longer trying to anticipate which lane to be in for the next turn.

Garmin nüvi 680 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

Garmin nüvi 680 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

Great Value and Top of the Line

From the many reviews that I have personally read, this nuvi 680 unit's feature set is pretty much exactly the same as the current high end 7xx series units. So don't fret that it's a discontinued model. My refurbished unit came updated with the 2009 map already, so no need to update there (we don't get that luxury as refurbished unit owners anyways). It looked like it was brand new out of the box! As a GPS unit, the unit functions very well. Doesn't take too long to sync with the satellite. Typical voiced directions. Plenty points of interests (I feel like I have Google Maps in my car!) --- There are many little features that make this a great unit. Bluetooth compatability: -Easy enough to connect to my Samsung phone. -Downloads all of the phone information onto the unit! -You get recent calls, missed calls...all that good stuff, even battery life, signal. It's as good as any built-in GPS you'd find in a luxury car these days. FM Transmitter: -This was one of the features I was really excited about because I wanted to be able to listen to my own music over FM as well as have conversations over FM. Unfortunately the signal is weak and sound is staticky. It is bearable for a conversation. SD slot: -Can upload music onto the unit although you won't be able to really enjoy the playback unless you have an auxiliary input on your car! --- The value of this unit at it's discounted refurbished price is unbeatable given the feature set. The one thing I haven't tried is the MSN Direct service, but I believe as refurbished owners we DO still get 1 year of free service since an activation tag was attached to my FM receiver/power charger.

Ships from Amazon with 2009 maps!

Just got one from Amazon (refurb) and much to my delight it came with the latest 2009 maps. Good because Garmin does not do the 60 day free update with refurb models as they do with new units. As for a review, it's a very good gps with a great display. Build quality/feel is not as nice as Tom Tom, but good enough. Same ease of use as Garmin has had forever. Fold out antenna is a little annoying and the suction cup bracket gets in the way a bit. The suction cup mount seems a bit over complicated and fragile. Magellan does it muh better. A bean bag mount as was standard with the 2720 is available and I'll be getting that. Very nice unit, overall. - Geo

nuvi 680

This device offers voice directions, mp3 player, fm transmitter to your car radio and bluetooth connectivity to your cell phone for (practically)hands free operation. My phone book automatically loads into the Garmin for easy search and selection. There are many shops of all kinds listed in its vast memory. A slot for SD cards fill with MP3 music is easily accessed. The gps does have a battery life but an enterprising individual could use a mini usb connector to a 5V source (4 AA alkaline batteries with a silicon diode in series) to run it as long as those batteries lasted. I do not see any drawbacks except paying a yearly fee of 19 dollars to msn for the weather, gas prices and traffic data. Did I mention the current movies are listed and it maps where to go to see them? All in all, I am happy with this product. My wife has confiscated it from me for the most part, however. I might have to buy another at $[...] since I paid $[...] at [...] last December (2007) for the one I have now.

Might me good navigator if had removable battery

The biggest drawback of this navigator is that manufacturer is still continues to make them with no access to the battery. So how it can be a PORTABLE navigator than? Let's say you are riding a bike or hiking with this navigator, and in 4-6 hours your battery run out of juice, and you STUCK in the middle of forest? That's not nice at all! Now if you could change a battery, you just put a fresh one, and you are on your way again! The other point - once you recharge the battery installed inside the devise for 500 - 700 times it will be almost dead and not to hold a charge. What it means for you - you have to Pay BIG BUCKS for TECHNICIAN to INSTALL A NEW BATTERY. GARMIN, COME ON, FIX THIS PROBLEM, than you might have an Awesome product.

GARMIN 010-00658-10 Forerunner 405 With Ant+Sport Wireless Technology (Black)

GARMIN 010-00658-10 Forerunner 405 With Ant+Sport Wireless Technology (Black)

Great device, few setbacks

I used the Garmin Forerunner 205 for 3 years before buying the 405 about a month ago. The 405 seems to get satellite reception faster and is more comfortable to wear, but the touch bezel does have some drawbacks. It is hard to use the bezel on the run and it doesn't work when it gets wet. I love this product because I am a "start it a forget it runner," but if you like to operate your watch on the run, the Forerunner 205 is probably a better deal.

Stick with the 305

Form factor is great, GPS function is great. Product is unusable during a workout! Once you break a sweat and sometimes before, the bezel becomes unusable. Garmin obviously never tested this device in the field. Buy the Garmin 305 it is rock solid and more feature rich. Amazon was great to work with on this issue and I am in the process of receiving a full refund. If you do buy this unit, please save all the packing and accessories so you can return to Amazon within the 30 day period.

No mac support :(

Promised by "Q4 2008" but I am not going to hold my breath for it given all the other negative review about performance. What a bummer, cause the 305 is ugly, but I guess I'll stick with it cause it works.

expensive but VERY useful

I bought the Garmin Forerunner 405 for my girlfriend. I have since run with her while she was wearing it and asked her about her solo runs with it. She absolutely loves the thing, especially the virtual partner feature. The only problem I think she has had are with the bezel-controls, which can be confusing at times. It seems like sometimes the watch reacts to touch and other times it doesn't. To be fair, my girlfriend has not read the manual.

Stick with the 305

Let me first say that I have been a fan of Garmin products for years and have run with the 105 and the 205/305 and loved both of them. You turned them on and went for a run with no problems, but the 405 is nowhere near as easy. I went through two of them before I realized I should not wasted anymore time with this thing. The connection with the computer is a huge hassle and if you do not have the current updates the watch lasts only 4 hours based on my experience. The touch feature on the watch is a pain and not easy to work. It does fit nicely but that is it....And to make matters worse the customer support for Garmin is horrible you end up waiting 30-40 minutes.....For those die hard marathoners like me, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME....Get the 205/305.......

Case Logic GPSP-2 Professional GPS Case for 4.3-Inch Flatscreens

Case Logic GPSP-2 Professional GPS Case for 4.3-Inch Flatscreens

A Case Too Large

I purchased the case for my new Magellan 1412 4.3 GPS. The unit fits fine in the case but the case is way too thick for it's intended purpose. The GPS is small enough to travel in your shirt pocket but not when placed in the case. The 'hard' shell case is not really hard. It is cardboard. I am disappointed with the case quality. I'd value the product at about five bucks.

Sturdy carrier with extra room to spare

OK, I thought this was going to be a smaller package but this carrier has more space than I was looking for. It is sturdy, and it has a mesh partition where the unit can slide into to keep it in place. This though helpful to store the unit, it is a bit challenging to remove the unit quickly. Yes, I may be overreacting here but I just feel it is so. The case will hold the unit and the charge cable comfortably if you're using the TTN cable from Garmin. The MSN cable has a larger head and you have to play with it to make it fit. Also note, take caution to place the unit in the mesh compartment with the screen facing the wall of the case and the back of the gps facing the power chord. Other than that, I feel it's a good case and I do like the carry strap as it swivels 360* so it doesn't get tangled up.

Good hard shell case, no padding

This case fits my Garmin nuvi 260W with room to spare at the top. The hard outer shell is well constructed, but no padding inside. A side mesh pocket holds the gps in place and a cleaning cloth is included. There are 2 elastic bands that keep the case from opening fully, but they are designed to keep the gps from sliding out the sides. The case arrives wrapped in plastic, and the carry strap and cleaning cloth are held in place by a plastic tie which must be cut to use.

Great Case, Not too small!

I purchased this case for the Garmin 760. I'm not sure why the other reviewer mentioned it did not fit the 760 but my brand new Garmin 760 fits perfectly inside with extra space! There is 1 inch of extra room on the top and 1/4" on each side. and plenty of room on top to close the zippered lid. All this while slipped into the mesh screened pocket inside. It came with a soft cloth and wrist strap with a swivel clasp to connect to the case. This is an awesome case with a little extra room for a memory card and protective shields.

Fits The Navigon 7100 But Should Be Better For The Price

Overpriced for what you get but it does fit the Navigon 7100 relatively well. The clamshell case, with elastic bands on the sides that limit the width of the opening, has one side with an elastic pocket. The Navigon 7100 wedges securely in the pocket and reduces the chance of the GPS falling out. If you don't use the pocket side to store your GPS then there's a good chance of it rattling about when stored and falling out when the case is opened. There's no real padding on the synthetic cloth covered sides of the case but it does come with a small strap and soft cloth which you'll need to use to wipe off all the fingerprints resulting from having to extract your GPS by grabbing it's front and back instead of by its sides. This is an overpriced mediocre case with limited benefit but is still better than the cheap cloth bag provided by Navigon. Get this case if you have nothing else available to use.

Garmin 010-00401-10 StreetPilot c330 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin 010-00401-10 StreetPilot c330 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Garmin c330

It arrived in a timely manner. My wife loves it. Great price. Thank you. St. Louis, MO

GWR garminC330 refurb

Product was exactly as advertized. It worked well on a trip from Dallas to Missouri. Easy to learn to operate. I see this product as sufficient for most GPS needs. Why pay more?

Garmin Streetpilot c330

The Garmin Streetpilot c330 is an excellent navagation aid. I do recommend this product.

bad choice for me

Trying to be cheap,I bought this refurbished unit. Alot of the road names where wrong. While driving along everything on the display would disappear except for the arrow indicating your vehicle. It's a discontinued model and a piece of junk.

sent it back

I ordered this as a gift for my son. The first time he used it he got lost because the area he was going to was not even on the map. The gps itself seems nice. Large easily to read screen. But the maps are terribly out of date and updating costs $70. Not worth it. I ordered a new Garmin 4.5 inch screen for not much more than the cost of this one with the update. It came with the bean bag holder and is more slimline.

GARMIN 010-00256-00 Etrex Legend GPS Receiver

GARMIN 010-00256-00 Etrex Legend GPS Receiver

Nearly worthless

This is a nice compact unit with pretty blue plastic and a lanyard so you can hand it on your neck. That's the end of the positives. The big, really big, negative is that this thing has such poor sensitivity that unless you live in the desert and no bird or plane ever fles over you, you will have problems getting it to work because it will not find satellite signals. OK, mild exageration. I live in mid-Michigan and it actually has found enough satelites to work if there was nothing above it. However, the moment you go under a tree, any tree, you will lose your signal and you will not get it back until you move out from under the tree. I think that if you put your hand over the Etrex Legend you will lose your signal. This thing is well named because a legend is often a myth and not based on fact. It is certainly a myth that the Etrex Legend is a useable GPS. Garmin should be deeply ashamed for selling such junk.

Not good under tree cover

I bought this unit for Geocaching. I have grown tired and frustrated of losing satellite signal under any sort of tree cover. We are finally decided to sell it for a better unit.

1 Serial Port Cable is a fossil!

It's not about the GPS, or that it only holds 8MB's of memory (not a stick upgradable option but built in#, or it only locks onto a satellite if U R standing still in the middle of a foot-ball field, BUT most computers today come with ONE #9 female pin# serial-port plug/outlet for PC to a major/vital peripheral hook-up or 4 get your printer/scanner or fax and use it for your GPS hook up and buy their map disks at $100+ ea. But don't buy them ALL or your memory would have to be in the GB's range! If U have a PC with any peripherals like a printer that ONLY port is USED so no luck d/l-ing Garmin © software. Most newer PC's come with several USB 2.0 ports, or a cheap hub turns 1 USB outlet into many outlets/inputs, so why is Garmin selling a GPS kit for around $130 with the ONLY way to get Jack from your PC is thru a SP connector? If U want a USB that works to d/l maps think around paying $60 more for this: 'USB to RS232 converter cable' which it should have come with for the price but didn't. So I have a cute hand held GPS that only shows me MAJOR roads has a menu that takes days to figure-out and set-up, then lacks memory, has no way to up that memory with a 1GB card and flogs an ancient SP hook-up with NO CD map disk #teasers# to Joe Public. Clearance time or PP planning? My buddy saw my frustraion and asked me why I had bought a Garbage GPS, he is a pilot! Spokane, WA.

A basic handheld GPS

I wanted a GPS to note down the lats and longs to the places I visit (places of birding importance). I am in India and the default US maps are of no use to me. I am not bothered about it. The Garmin serves its purpose in recording lats, longs and elevation. It has additional features such as speedometer, odometer, etc, which is not my need. It shows your position with the best accuracy of 11 metres radius (as far as I have tried so far). I knew that this particular Garmin model does not accept Google Earth Pro. However, I thought there should be other means of uploading maps to it. This is something I am yet to explore. But, the major draw back is the computer connectivity. It comes with a serial port, which my laptop does not accept. I have to now find out some adapter for this. Other interesting features of the GPS are marking waypoints, tracking your route, and panning the map after you record your track/waypoints. The instrument has a joystick which you can use to pan, or jump menus in the "Main Menu" window. It's been just three weeks I got this GPS, and the joystick has stopped working in one direction. I can not pan the map down. I haven't used it roughly, the poor mechanical thing appears to be too sensitive. Overall, it serves my purpose of getting the co-ordinates and elevation. If you want something more, like compatibility with Google Earth Pro, good computer connectivity, etc, then this is not the model. You may be interested in Garmin eTrex Legend CX or Vista.

Good old GPS

I bought this used here on Amazon back in Oct 2003 and has worked without problems. This GPS I use for Geocaching and it works great. I added the MetroGuide Map, I believe, and get nice street level detail unfortunately the 8 Megs of RAM is not enough to hold all of the LA area but it does hold quite a bit. This is NOT a GPS that you really want to use for driving. There are many other GPS that have Turn-by-Turn, Color diplays, Touchscreen, ect... But it does very well for hiking, walking and bike riding, ect...

Magellan eXplorist 500LE Color Handheld GPS

Magellan eXplorist 500LE Color Handheld GPS

Good and Bad

This is my 1st GPS and bought from Costco for [...]. I figured if its as bad as they say I can return it. First off, the entire connection to the USB port is a non-issue once you figure out that the moron that developed it put tabs on the plug that lead you to install it upside down. After an hour of messing with it, I tried it the other way and it instantly worked and has ever since. I think this is why so many people have problems connecting it to the PC. The unit seems to be accurate, but sometimes gives screwey distances. If you scroll thru the menu it corrects itself (dont know if all GPS units do this or not). The "windows file system" is very difficult to figure out where files are sent to and how to find them again. Its much easier to use points of interest and locate them by area, alphabetically, or by distance. This unit can use AAA or the li-ion battery which I dont have but will soon get because like other reviewers, it eats batteries quick. All in all, it seems like an OK product with some glitches. Without another GPS to compare it to I give it a 3 due to the poor file navigation interface.

I should have saved my money

I bought this as an impulse buy when I saw it on clearance at Wal-Mart for $110, marked down from $199. I had been contemplating upgrading from my explorist 210 (which I still love). OK, the battery life on 3 AAA is not good. I have used it maybe 2 hrs and have devoured 2/3 of the battery life (according to the battery indicator). All of this with the back light off. I doubt the enviroment can afford this type of battery waste. Accuracy. The unit I have has a serial number that starts with 0133. This comes preloaded with the latest firmware frim April 2007, ver 5.2.17. It will not lock, or track onto the WAAS satellites for improved accuracy. Don't expect accuracy better than 20 feet as a result. The version of firmware does not allow me to downgrade, or load in a version that works for the euro versions (and is only supposed to be used for euro ver). I understand that units with a serial number which starts with 011 do not have this problem. If I knew then what I know now, I would not have purchased this unit.

Great Unit for Geocaching

I have been using the Magellan eXplorist series for 3 years and have owned several different models. Comparing other units with the same feature set the Magellan eXplorist 500LE is by far the best bang for the buck. I have not had any problems with the unit being recognized by a PC or a MAC (I have used both). The file system is great, I can set up different routes, waypoints, and geocaches on seperate SD cards and then load the SD card into the unit for the area I am going to. Very easy. The software that comes with the 500LE is very basic, and the detailed manual is on the CD that comes with the unit (not printed). However, I have found several 3rd party applications that work great with the eXplorist series. I use Lithium-Ion batteries and find that I can get 8-10 hours of use if I watch how I use the tracking and back light features. In one of my units I use the optional rechargeable battery an I get about the same usage. I am happy with the eXplorist 500 series the unit is durable and I can trust it.

good value handheld GPS

The Magellan eXplorist 500LE is my first GPS, before I've used only Garmin GPSs. I've decided to purchase a GPS to support my work as an RF Engineer and this GPS does it jobs well. Few things I don't like about this thing, but it's very minor. If you have this, you need to purchase the battery pack too so that you wouldn't need to open its back cover to have it powered because you'll be able to recharge the battery while it's impossible if you're using 3xAAA batteries. In overall, I'm satisfied with the Magellan eXplorist 500LE.

Great geocache unit:

I purchased another 500 because they have been discontinued and they are really good for caching. The color screen is very bright and the unit is straight foward to use. And the Magellan program to download pocket queries is excellent. Keeps satelliate signals under heavy tree cover and is plenty accurate. The LE takes three AAA batteries instead of the rechargeable battery, but everything else is the same. And yes, the Magellan customer service is crap, no bones about it.

Magellan Traffic Kit for the Maestro Series

Magellan Traffic Kit for the Maestro Series

don't bother with this

Bought this for my Magellan GPS. I hate it. I still use it while I wait to buy a new one. With out this traffic kit the GPS unit send you on some stupid routes, some times they are just crazy. This kit just adds to it confusion in calculating the routes. I use it just to see the traffic details, they are not even accurate. If you use it to automatically route based on traffic details you will be taking stupid routes, maybe even go around in circles. There are better options. I would get lost less just using the maps in rental cars.

No Traffic Alerts in Atlanta!

Although the Traffic Service is supposed to work in Atlanta, I have yet to see a single traffic alert. I would have given this one star except that it is a required optional accessory if you want to use an external antenna with the Maestro and for that it works as advertised.

traffic kit for magellan maestro

this product worked wonderfully to get me thru LA traffic on vacation. I would recommend this to anyone that is thinking of travelling thru a major city and is unfamiliar with the area.

It's right model for Maestro but...

I bought this Traffic Kit for my Magellan Maestro 4050 GPS as my original Traffic Kit had been stolen in downtown San Francisco on last month. The Kit was right model for 4050 GPS, but the one I got from Amazon wasn't fit on my GPS. Even though I heard the click of the latch, the GPS wasn't stuck fast to the Kit firmly. As watching the GPS on local ways, I had headaches because the GPS was almost always a little bit moving around. Eventually, I returned it.

Magellan RoadMate 2000 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan RoadMate 2000 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

MAGELLAN ROADMATE

MY MAGELLAN ROADMATE IS THE BEST THIS IS MY SECOND ONE I WILL ALWAYS USE MY MAGELLAN ROADMATE. DEON

Good value for the money

We've had this GPS for over a year now, and it has worked quite well. We used it on our move from New York to Texas and it held a signal the whole trip which was what we hoped for. I've been using it in our new city and its predominantly been a champ. This area has a number of new constructions so the maps seem outdated (mainly missing developments) and it appears you can't update them. It seems to spontaneously reset when I hit one particular spot downtown- its annoying, but at least I know exactly when its going to happen so I can look at my next few turns before that happens. Overall, this is a great little unit if you're new in town and want a GPS to help you get where you need to go until you know how to get there on your own.

Good GPS with some flaws

I got this GPS as a present about a year and a half ago. It is not the best GPS you will find, but if you want a small, inexpensive unit, this is a good product to look at for the price. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: 1. Reliability The unit will get you from point A to point B. I have seen it re-route after a wrong turn and it will usually (eventually) find an alternate route that is suitable. 2. Ease of use The unit is very easy to use, and the interface is pretty good. I just bought a Garmin and the huge disadvantage to that unit is that I cannot search locations by zip code. With this unit, you can search by zip or by city name. I also like the "Home" button right on the main menu. Touch the button it will route to your home without having to go through multiple menus. Also, it has many POIs and they are easy to use. 3. Routing options Another nice feature is the routing options you are presented with every time you enter an address. Before it plans the route you can pick "Shortest Time", "Shortest Distance", "Most use of freeways", or "Least use of freeways". This is especially nice when driving home in rush hour traffic when you want to avoid the highways, or making long trips where you want to use all freeways. Also, you can click "Avoid toll roads" for any of these options, which is great is you don't have an EZ Pass-type device. Cons: 1. Routing & maps The unit has always gotten me to where I need to go, but sometimes it doesn't calculate the fastest route. Also, Magellan doesn't update maps very often so sometimes you might run into a situation where a road has changed and the map is not updated. Another con to this is that the unit does not save your favorite route to stored locations. 2. Not many extra features The unit is basically for GPS only. It doesn't have any of the fancy features the GPS units have now, such as Bluetooth, MP3 players, etc. It is meant to be used as a GPS only. It also does not have text-to-speech capabilities, meaning it will not announce road names, but instead say "turn left in 1 mile." All in all, this is a good little GPS unit for someone who just need to get where they are going. There are no flashy features in it, but it gets you to where you need to go. I especially like being able to touch the one button during a route and look at all the turns for the route from start to finish. The routing is pretty good and the time estimates are almost always dead on. It's not bad for a first GPS.

very poor performance

I've owned this GPS for almost a year, My unit takes about 7 minutes to connect to the satalite and get a location fix, after its initially turned on. The Points of Interest database is useless. It barely has anything in it compared to most other gps units (2 million vs. 6 million). 2 million may sound like alot, but its not, its really only like 20% of stores/gas stations/ resteraunts/ etc. Magellan just sent me an email about a map, software, and points of interest update, that they just released. They charge $79.99 for the update. Great way to retain customers Magellan, charge them for updates! The battery on the Roadmate is trash. The unit does not have an off mode, only hibernate, which consistantly drains the battery dead, if left "off" for more than a few days. So basically the unit must remain plugged in constantly like it has no battery at all. The user interface is poorly thought out. If for instance I want to store a new location then navigate to it. I must store the location and name it, then navigate all the way back to the home screen (by pushing "X" five times. Then all the back to the save points list, then I have to locate my new point I just saved on a long list that only shows about 8 points per screen, so you have to scroll down and find it. It should be just be you punch in an address and click navigate, but its not. Oh and another minor anoyance with the roadmate, is that you cannot see the map and your speed at the same time, on the same display. You have to click the top bar to see your speed. Then hit "X" to get back to you map. Also zooming in and out is excruciatingly slow.

Works great...while it's alive

I've had this product since Dec. 2006 (paid $225 for it at the time). It has worked great: got me where I needed to go, provided me with the nearest Taco Bells, suggested alternate routes when it detects that I'm stuck in traffic, and etc. However, it only comes with a one year warranty. Low and behold, after 14 months of service (not much since I don't drive everyday and only use it for the occasional trip), it decided to die on me this month. I can send it back to Magellan for repair but that'll cost more than a new GPS. I don't think I'll go Magellan again.

Magellan Maestro 3140 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan Maestro 3140 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

great product, excellent features

Bought magellan maestro 3140 in april 2008. have used it for the past 5 months. The unit has performed flawlessly thus far. The 3140 easily takes me to all included addresses and POI's easily and relatively efficiently. My one and only negative would be that the included maps are current to 3rd quarter 2006. A 2008/2009 map update costs $80. Hard to see that much benefit for the few times a road is inaccurate. Only paid $200 for the unit. Still, have thoroughly enjoyed using the unit. Has a fast lock on satellites, holds the lock even in somewhat tree covered roads. I initially purchased a Garmin of similar level. Returned it. The 3140 outperforms the garmin in both ease of use and features.

Magellan Maestro 3140 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Its great one from amazon but drawback is little late to get signal great bluetooth no noise nothing good one from amazon for great price

Magellan 3140

The item was shipped in a very quick fashion. This item was from Warehouse Deals and had a 30 day trial feature. The item worked like a charm but the battery would not take a charge. I contacted Amazon, they sent me a return label and refunded my money in a very short time. I am extremely well satisfied with the transaction. Wayne Hall

Great GPS

I purchased one of these for my wife and my son liked it so much my mother-in-law bought him one as a graduation gift from college.

Great GPS- You can change the POI FILE! (read)

OK, This is an awesome GPS! Definitely buy it if you are on the fence. I haven't used the blue tooth, but I wouldn't buy it for that reason anyway. I echo all the positive statements that have been made about it. I have a few suggestions/tips: a) consider paying $150 for it refurbished and you are getting a huge bang for the buck! b) Go to the Magellan site and make sure the map and software is updated/ update it. c) Update the POI file to 6 million! Many people complain about the small POI file, but you can change it even though Magellan hasn't released one. [...] follow the instructions. It works, I've done it and Its great. I have new categories and subcategories. Not only that but the actual file is SMALLER than the original POI file. There are other tips, tricks, and custom POI databases on this forum. Good luck!

Magellan RoadMate 1400 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Magellan RoadMate 1400 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

By far the best GPS available for less than $300

I bought & returned 6 different GPS units including the Tom Tom, Garmin and a few others. First, when you enter the address (which is by far the easiest address-entering compared to any of its competitors) it knows where you want to go. It always brought me to the exact spot that i needed to find. It has over 6,000,000 points of interest compared to 1-2 million on every other competitor. it is small, thin and very lightweight. THIS GPS ROCKS!!!

GPS Assistant

Well pleased with my Magellan GPS. Used it recently for a trip to and from Atlantic City and I was able to avoid my usual wrong turns. Highly recommended. Nice model.

Sony NVU83T 4.8'' Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

Sony NVU83T 4.8'' Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

Used others, Sony prevails

After months of testing other GPS units, I am happy to report that this product is very worthy of purchasing for your navigational needs. After getting used to it's functions, it really works quite nicely. I like all of the information it gives you on the 4.8 inch screen. Once you have input a destination point there is nothing more for you to worry about. Just follow it and it will get you there. Sometimes it routes a little differently than I would drive locally, but everyone has their own "best way". Out of town though, it does the job fine. I like the split screen, when approaching a turn point or exit, and I really like the 3-D images in the mapping. Finding points of interest can be challenging, but usually if you have it set to the right city, it will come up with it. I don't think there is anything out there that will find everything, so keep that in mind. Hopefully they will have software updates, that will improve new points of interest.

Nice screen, but rotten routing

I've had this unit for 1 day and it will be going back tomorrow. I used it on several routes today (with the 3.0 firmware) and it insisted on using I-10 in all of my routes (which is completely wrong). In fact, it even routed me off the road I was on to go 12 miles out of my way (to I-10), just so that I could return to the same road from the opposite direction. It has a nice large screen, but if a GPS unit can't navigate, what's the point?

good gps

I bought this GPS for a month now. I think it is a very good GPS and the split screen to show the details of the junction is excellent especially you are driving in east coast. I do agree that the response is a little bit slow after you miss the turn. But i think sony can fix it in the next new update. I also owned a Garmin 360 before. but i prefer the sony one since it is more user friendly and shows more details of the road, even though Garmin has a faster response.

The best GPS

I purchased SONY nuv83T before my trip. It is very user friendly. It is very powerful and intelligent. It is the best GPS. Desktop software is not user friendly. While entering address book it ask for longitude, Latitude etc.. That normally we do not know. Upgrade firmware and backup is simple. Sony provides free firmware upgrade cd. ( free shipping)

a big disappointment

We had high hopes for the SONY NVU83T, but we have returned it after a frustrating three weeks of trying to use it. The routing was often bizarre (what algorithm routes a driver between two destinations in New York State by way of Canada?), the documentation sorely lacking, the GUI not at all intuitive, no AC adapter is included, the battery life is very short, and the suction cup didn't suction well. The display was bright and clear, but provided only a bare minimum of map data - it would have been helpful to see the names of streets we were approaching - updating after a missed turn was sometimes very slow. In case you are wondering, we did have the 3.0 firmware. I would not recommend this GPS.

ARKON GARMIN NUVI AIR VENT MOUNT

ARKON GARMIN NUVI AIR VENT MOUNT

Garmin should include this as a standard piece

This little gadget is very good. I originally bought Garmin's standard bean bag. Although it worked well and it was very stable, it was also very bulky. My dash is very short, so there was not much space to put it on the dashboard. So I bought this instead. The package it came in was super cheap (just a plastic bag), and the plastic on this item feels very cheap, but it provides surprisingly stable base for GPS. It puts GPS in a perfect position to look, and touch and still give me some air from the vent. Since this attachment probably can be made very cheaply if Garmin decided to include this in every GPS they sell, I don't know why they don't do that. For those who has to use a beanbag or suction cup would use a beanbag or suction cup anyway. This is a way better solution than their included suction cup style holder. No sticky adhesives. If you are thinking about getting this, and if you have normal horizontal vent slats, get this attachment, you won't regret it. And it's CHEAP!!

Perfect solution for mounting the GPS

This is the perfect answer for a mount for our Garmin Nuvi 760: no suction rings on the window, no bulky dashboard beanbag. It mounts easily in the vent to the right of the steering wheel, a perfect location. Works with Lexus SC430 and several rental cars we've used. The mount easily detaches from the vent and is small enough that you can easily put the GPS, attached mount and cord into the glovebox when you're away from the vehicle.

Does What It Says!

I use my mount in a 1988 Toyota pickup and a 1999 Isuzu Trooper. It fits both of them perfectly. I am very pleased with the mount.

Air Vent Mount Works Great

The Arkon Garmin NUVI Air Vent Mount works great in my 2006 Honda Pilot! The ball snaps into the the existing socket of the Garmin Nuvi adhesive dash mount that came with my Garmin Nuvi 660. There are two attachment clips which secure into the directional control fins of the air vent and a positionable leg holds it steady. The ball and socket are very positionable, hold the unit steady, and do not interfere with any of the unit's cables. The vent mount positions the GPS unit in a very readable, out of the sun's glare, accessible to the touch screen position. I purchased this item because I can remove it easily and hide the evidence that I own a covetable GPS unit when the vehicle is parked. Out of sight, out of mind!! My only word of caution is that the attachment clips have put some minor grooves in the plastic vent slot surface, so in the long run I am unsure of whether they will damage the vent slot further.

GREAT ALTERNATE OPTION

FITS VERY WELL ON 99 LEXUS ES 300 CENTER VENT MOUNTS AND 95 GRAND CHEROKEE AND 96 BUICK REGAL. YOU CAN USE MORE THAN NUVI. ALSO WORKS FOR STP C5XX, ZUMO, STP I-SERIES. ANYTHING THAT USES THE BALL/SOCKET MOUNT SYSTEM, EVEN THE VERY BIG NUVI 5000.

Hard Shell 4.3" (Wide Screen) GPS Carrying Case w/ Strap for Select Garmin Nuvi Models

Hard Shell 4.3" (Wide Screen) GPS Carrying Case w/ Strap for Select Garmin Nuvi Models

Shop Careful. There are many choices

After looking at all of the available options, I decided on this case. It does what a hard case should, it protects my Nuvi 260W like I expect it to.

Perfect carrying case followed with great service

I wanted something that would protect my GPS and would be compact in size. This fits the bill. It has enough firmness to the case to provide safety for the GPS. There is still room inside to place the charger and the USB cable. The strap works great for me. I hook it to my purse so my hands are free. I really appreciated the cleaning cloth that was enclosed. The company had great service and surprised me with follow-up. Finally, someone who cares!!!!! I would definitely order again from this company.

Nice Case, Needs a Belt Strap

I bought this to hold my Garmin Nuvi when I'm travelling. I don't want to leave the GPS in my car when I get out, since it is a power thief-magnet. And I don't want to just slip it into my pocket, because I know it will eventually either fall out or get crushed. This case will hold the Nuvi with room to spare, and appears to be pretty crush-resistant while retaining a light weight. What I really wanted though, and couldn't find, is a smaller case with a belt strap or clip, like they have for cell phones, so I could just wear this on my belt when I'm out of the car. That way, potential thieves could see the GPS leaving the car with me, and I wouldn't have to keep track of the case and unit when I'm in a restaurant or at another stop. So, I give this 4-stars because it does what it's supposed to do, but not 5-stars because a simple belt strap would make it infinitely more useful.

GARMIN 010-00658-22 Forerunner 405 With Heart Rate Monitor & Ant+Sport Wireless Technology (Green)

GARMIN 010-00658-22 Forerunner 405 With Heart Rate Monitor & Ant+Sport Wireless Technology (Green)

Garmin 405 - just need more battery life

It is a great product, much lighter. Weak point is a shorter battery life, comparing with Garmin's 305.

Loved the 305, bought the 405, just bought a Suunto

I used and loved the 305 for two years, however I am 110lbs and it looks like a 70's startrek communicator on my arm. I bought the 405 because it was a bit smaller and my 305 got ran over. The 405 is a hugh disapointment. I've sent my 305 back for repair ($106) and they sent me back a refurbished unit. I've stopped using my 405 and went back to the 305. Here is what I hate about the 405 - they dumbed down the advance workouts, you can only write them from a computer. - the Ant+ upload only uploads to garmin training center and no other program, and it is slow. It also doesn't always find the device right away so I have to sit around for it to locate it then upload. -the bezel sucks -they removed the "snooze" function on the alarm function. They should have stayed with the buttons, -the bezel either doesn't recongize you are touching it or it keeps getting activated. In fact even with the bezel locked I heard it waking up in my sports bag when I was driving...I go around a corner...beep, hit a bump...beep, stop...beep, speed up...Beep. 3 hours later when I to where I was going to workout, the battery was 50% used up. This happens all the time. - the bezel isn't user friendly...as you go through the menu you accidently touch the bezel to long and it switches screens...or you accidently touch a differnent part with the other hand and it chooses something else. Drives me nuts. The charge clip is hard to get on just right....not difficult but you have to make sure it is charging. Anyway. I love the 305 but I want something smaller and It would be nice if I could swim with it too. So I will keep my 305 but I just bought a Suunto T4. It looks like it will do everything the garmin will (and some) but has a significantly smaller display. I wasn't excited about the seperate gps pod but now that I have it,I think it is better. I just clip it to my water belt or my race belt. As a triathlete the watch stays on and the gps gets put on when I put my race number on. Sorry Garmin...you lost me as a customer over the 405.

Awesome!

This product has renewed my love for running. It is amazing. You are easily able to keep up with your time, pace and distance. I can run or ride my bike and come home and stick the usb stick in and see exactly what I did and where I went. It is a great product for a serious runner in training for an event or for the novice that wants positive feedback. I would highly recommend the Garmin 405 to everyone!

Garmin 405 vs. Suunto S4

My last running watch was a Suunto S4 and now I'm using a Garmin 405. This review highlights my experience with both watches. Suunto S4 experience (used for 2+ years): I purchased a Suunto S4 a few years ago. It was cutting edge at the time. However, I had to return it to Suunto three different times because it stopped working each time I had to change the battery. My conclusion each time this happened was that the watch had great technology... but it was built with cheap material with poor quality testing. I didn't purchase the PC pod... so, I was unable to transfer my workout data to my computer. I did have a heart rate monitor and a foot pod. The watch worked good when I didn't have to replace the battery. I needed to read the manual several times before getting a good grasp of all the features. I felt that the built in Suunto Coach feature was pretty much useless... it consistently recommended a schedule that was too light for me. Overall feeling of the Suunto S4: * Great watch for runners a few years ago * Still good technology in the watch * Made with cheap material (lifespan of watch was very short in my opinion) * Worked well on a treadmill and outdoors. Garmin 405 experience (after 1 month): I've had the Garmin 405 for a month now. It rocks! It took me one run to get used to the Garmin 405. After one more run I had it configured just right for my needs. I know there are features I still have not taken advantage of... but it works just the way I want it to with the right information displayed during my run. I occasionally use the Heart Rate Monitor to get a feel for my average heart rate on different types of runs. I never installed the software to track my running on my computer. Instead I setup an account with Garmin Connect and it is excellent!!!!! The ability to track my exact course on the map, elevation, distance, heart rate, peaks and low points for each measurement, etc. is incredible. Plus, it's there on the web for me to pull up anytime and anywhere. I've run against the virtual trainer on a few occasions. However, I prefer to monitor my running time, speed and distance (or current HR if I'm wearing the Heart Rate monitor). There is a ton of data you can use to monitor when you run. I can't comment on the longevity of the watch since mine is only a month old (I hope it lasts for at least 2 years). I sometimes wear the watch when I'm not running. Often I'll just snap on the charging clip after a run and leave it until my next run. The ant technology has worked perfect for me to load my runs online. I just snapped in the ant stick this evening and 6 runs loaded off my watch to the internet for my review. One tip that has worked well for me is to lock the watch after I start the run and set the training screen to my preferred view. This will prevent me from changing something by accident and is something I learned to do after running in the rain once. I have not tested the 405 on a treadmill since I have not purchased the footpod. Regarding the GPS signal, it seems to work very well... even with trees overhead. It's cool when the watch tells me there's a sharp turn ahead... and it's right. Also, I like how the watch tells me when my run is half over. In both of these cases, it tells you with a message box and a little sound that prompts me to look at my watch since I wear an IPod when I run. I always strive to complete my workout goal because I get a nice success message at the end with an sound indicating my workout has completed. Overall recommendation: Buy the Garmin 405 and use it with Garmin Connect. If you are a runner that likes to analyze the details of your runs... you will love it.

Excellent for heart-rate training

Overall I like the watch. Like anyone who has spent $350 on a gadget, I went through a period of buyer's remorse when the negative reviews on this watch weighed heavily in my mind. But I've gotten used to the foibles, and am now preparing to buy a second one of these watches for my wife. The thoughtful negative reviews I've read are generally true, and the question you must face is: will you be ok with it. I use the watch 3x-4x weekly for running & heart rate training, following a metabolic test and training routine suggested by the pro at my gym. My wife began this program first, and got set up on workout routines that are like 2 minutes at one heart rate, followed by 1 minute at another heart rate, etc. She was using a Nike heart rate monitor that didn't allow such programming, so she started wearing a second watch so that she could keep track of times and heart rate more easily. The Garmin software for setting up such a workout is EASY, and using it during a run is as simple as it ought to be. I run Windows XP and have had very little trouble with the sync; when I walk in the door with my gym bag, the computer and watch find eachother like long-lost lovers, and exchange information without being prompted. By the time you set your bag down, the computer pulls up data on your run. Really slick. I also like looking over the data that comes out at the end. It's been rewarding to see how my pace is improving and heart rate is recovering more quickly after intense bursts. I'd like to get my 5k below 20 minutes, and I can watch my progress toward that goal. A weakness of the PC-based software is the map. The built-in basemap is so coarse as to be almost useless. Don't expect to use this map to plan routes. You can transfer up to 25 workout routines to the watch, customized for pace, heart rate, distance, calories, whatever. The watch displays are also customizable, showing the data that I want to see at a glance while running (like how long until this interval is over!). I had some initial trouble getting used to the touch screen. I seriously question the wisdom of that design "feature." But I can always get the watch to do what I want it to. Note to Garmin: there is a reason why the Timex Ironman was a popular watch for so long; it's easy to USE! I have experienced some GPS issues. You have to get the watch fired up a few minutes before you begin your run. You can program a warmup period at the beginning of your run so that the watch is finding satellites while you get yourself going. GPS elevation "measures" are notoriously poor, and I think it would have been wiser of Garmin to leave that data off. I live in Colorado and have used the watch to log a bike trip up into the foothills. Even over significant elevation changes (100's of feet) the elevation data were noisier than the hills I was climbing. Another user noted trouble with bias in tree-lined areas. I've seen very little of that in my neighborhood, though the pace estimate does get wonky when I go through an underpass along our bike trail. You can check the watch's "satellites" screen to see the strength of signal. In general, I don't trust the instantaneous pace readouts, but instead rely on the results on the computer when I return home. There I trust data averaged over >2 minutes. As for battery, it hasn't been a problem. One guy described the horror of the buttons getting pushed when he travels. I just put the watch inside my running shoe (face toward the sole) and stuff a sock in behind. I've had no problem there. Garmin support has been good. Apparently the watch I bought (local running store for about the same price as Amazon) had been registered to another user (a return?). Garmin responded to my email request about it within 36 hours. They also helped when my watch got hung up and wouldn't sync. Also, Garmin has released a new operating system for the watch that you can easily download and transfer via the wireless connection. Again, I'm happy with the watch. If you're the type whose glass is generally half full, then my bet is that you will too.

GARMIN 010-10816-00 City Navigator North America NT

GARMIN 010-10816-00 City Navigator North America NT

Garmin 2007 City Navigator

Our family purchased the Garmin 2007 City Navigator for a trip to Florida. The maps were easy to download to our Garmin eTrex Legend HCx. We used the maps in cities we were unfamiliar with. We were very happy with the routes selected. If we chose not to follow a route in order to explore an area, the route updated quickly and accurately.

Great detail

You need this for your Garmin GPS. The detail is great, shows every small road and even sometimes just ruts.

Decent update, bought it to update my basemap.

The user functions are ok, not quite like using a google map. Wish it had topo!!! Cuold really use it with bike trails and routes.

Maybe not as flashy as some...

While this package may not be as flashy as some of the others out there, it does everything I want it to and then some. I have two minor issues. 1)the interface with the map is clumsy when it comes to zooming and panning. If you use only the mouse, you have to switch between tools. 2) I can't find a way to filter out POIs I'm not interested in. If you are using the highest map detail setting to show minor streets and roads, you also get a ton of POIs which clutters the map. I've tried two map/route software packages by the other big players in this market and am generally more satisfied with the Garmin product. I used it paired with my Vista HCx and the more I use it, the more I like it. Good support web site too. UPDATE... There is a way filter POIs - sort of. You have to turn them all off and the search for the ones you want by category.

OK in Use, But Not Very Easy to Install

Besides the usual topos for hiking & outdoors, I wanted to also use my handheld Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx as an occasional street navigator. This software allows me to do that. For that application, I would only recommend it for occasional use, because a dedicated navigation device is easier to use. The limitation is not in the software, but in the device. To be fair, the handheld Garmin was designed for portable, rugged, outdoor use, not car navigation. The software works fine, and the "find" features are great for locating gas stations, restaurants and points-of-interest. The only trouble is installation. This software is "locked", so you have to register on Garmin's web site to unlock, and it can only be installed on one computer and one device. Also, for the Garmin handheld at least, remember that all maps you want (including topos) must be staged on MapSource before downloading to the memory card. Attempts to add maps later will just erase what is on the card and replace them with the ones you are trying to add. Again, this is a limitation of the device, not the software. Enjoy if you decide to get City Navigator too.

Garmin External Speaker with 12-Volt Adapter for StreetPilot ( 010-10477-01)

Garmin External Speaker with 12-Volt Adapter for StreetPilot ( 010-10477-01)

Garmin StreetPilot Power/Speaker Adapter

The product works fine and the delivery time was excellent. The price was still a little high, but much better than you could purchase it from Garmin. I love my Garmin GPS, but I find that this integral part of the system is prone to failure and repeated replacement. Because of poor engineering design or whatever, Garmin should stand behind their product better and either design a better adapter, or at least discount the existing design to GPS owners.

Save Your Money!

Rather than shell out $30 to $40 for another flimsy replacement, one can just go to Radio shack and buy a "Y" cigarette lighter accessory (allowing 2 accessories to plug into one socket). This assumes you can salvage the pieces from your broken plug-in. Simply reassemble the broken pieces (make sure the fuse is there), and slide all into one of the sockets on the "Y", then tape the Garmin plug and "Y" socket together to make sure it remains secure. You now have the new "Y" to plug in and out of the cigarette lighter and an extra socket on the "Y" for your celphone!!

Just as good as the original.

The one that came with my GPS broke, and this one works as good as that one. No difference.

Excellent Quality, Great Seller

Second time my dog chewed this up and the same company provided a replacement quickly at a good price. The adapter is perfect, works great, excellent quality.

StreetPilot Adapter

Our StreetPilot stopped working for unknown reasons. Rather than send it to Garmin to look at, I thought it would be easier, quicker, and cheaper to first try a new adapter cord. This one one delivered quickly and did the trick. Our GPSr is now working great.

GARMIN 010-10457-00 Auto Mounting Bracket Suction Cup

GARMIN 010-10457-00 Auto Mounting Bracket Suction Cup

Garmin Automotive Mounting Bracket for GPS 60 series

This bracket works great in both of our cars. The GPS comes off of it easily, and you can position it on the windshield where ever you want it to go.

Mounting Bracket 010-10457-00 Construction

The item was received in good condition. It does work as reviewed by others here. It adheres very well to the windshield. I agree with the reviewer who wished it had sideways rotation. That could be a benefit when using only reflected light with the GPSMAP 60CSx. I would like to see the technical specs include the construction material for these products as RAM MOUNT does for theirs. That would help in the decision making process.

Garmin Mounting Backet

I enjoy this item, but it should have a slider slot that you can make it longer or shorter. Some car windows are sloped different then others. It just fits, but the antenna is right against the windshield, its not a bad thing it holds it in place but its hard to read the screen sometimes.

Holds its weight, most of the time

Im not disappointed in buying this item, however it does have its flaws. Just as any suction cup holding unit would do, it looses suction and comes undone. All and all, its worth its weight in gold.

Garmin mounting bracket

You have to position it so that the bottom will rest lightly on your dashboard, otherwise the unit jiggles too much while the vehicle is in motion. But that's a very small issue. The grip on the windshield is excellent and I like the way the bracket piece swivels so that I can get the GPSr on and off easily.

Freedom Input Keychain GPS 2000

Freedom Input Keychain GPS 2000

Great GPS receiver in a small package

Very happy with the Freedom Keychain GPS 2000. Works with Garmin Mobile XT on my Palm 680 just fine. Very fast in locking in position, and battery life seems ok (about 6 hours for me). Quite sensitive--I can keep it in my pocket or in the car center console and it stays locked on the satellites--doesn't need to have a direct view of the sky. Only thing I wish it had was a "battery meter" like Garmin's Mobile 10x receiver (maybe it does, but Mobile XT doesn't recognize or display it, as it does with the Mobile 10x receiver).

Works as advertised

Bought this to synch with my Motorola q9m smartphone. Once I adjusted the settings on them q9m (no thanks to Moto found on a forum)it worked great. Amazing actually. Once it obtains satellites it doesn't lose them. If your looking for a bluetooth GPS receiver, look no further.

So small and works great!

I purchased this item for my boyfriend and he loves it! He had been using a similar device that he borrowed from a friend and really wanted one for himself. He pairs up this device with his smartphone and uses it for geocaching and traveling. This device keeps the signal even when in the woods which is normally an issue. He also loves how small it is and can carry it on his keychain so he always has it with him. I would definately recommend this device to anyone!

Holy Cow! Works Great!!!!

First: Read Port Tack (regarding Com settings (phone, not Google), and Marty's (overall info). Second: Enjoy a POWERFUL unit at a great price. Very sensitive, really good performance, small, light, totally cool. Don't be without it....I've tried others, this is THE one.

Fantastic!

Pros: incredibly small size (smaller than a matchbox) and great performance. Follow steps along the lines of Marty's (excellent) review; the key is to remember to add the COM setup under Bluetooth settings (not the separate GPS setting). I had it running with my laptop as well as my Pantech Duo (WM6) smartphone. It nabbed a signal in seconds (inside a house, under tree cover). It even has a slick minimalist look (I like the matte black exterior).

DeLorme Earthmate GPS LT-40 2009

GPS

DeLorme Earthmate GPS LT-40 2009 is a wonderful product! The GPS antenna module is compact and attractive. The mapping software loads easily and is easy to use. All in all, this was a great buy. Lyle

DeLorme Street Atlas 2009

Great update from Street Atlas 2008. The New LT-40 GPS unit is much, much faster to acquire a 3D fix and seems to be more accurate. Money well spent.

Delorme 2008 Street Atlas and LT-40 GPS receiver travel well

Bottom line: This Delorme bundle offers an economical GPS solution that runs on your personal laptop. Its navigation features (voice guidance and large laptop screen) are good for a single driver. But, its enroute Points of Interest directory for gas, lodging or restaurants requires a computer savy co-pilot. The 2008 Street Atlas maps are relatively up to date. Delorme's maps seem to run 2 or 3 years behind new highway construction. It has a good inventory of county and township backroads, often providing shortcuts to the larger roadways. Delorme relies on user feedback to update road information. When traveling lesser used routes, the GPS coordinates and the atlas overlay map can be off by 300 feet or so, like the map needs to be stretched east or west to fit the road. You don't get lost, but you do get nuisance alerts that say you're "off route". Bottom line, we love it and we don't travel without it. The LT-40 receiver is great. It keeps a GPS lock much better than the prior LT-20. The LT-40 holds on while driving under tree cover. It even worked when I walked from the backyard into the house during its initial checkout. It properly detected when I was walking north, south, east and west, moving from room to room.

Great GPS Software!!!

I have been a user of Microsoft Streets & Trips since 2004, and I was really in love with S&T until I decided to get GPS Receiver. I did some research in the internet like always do before buy something new and found that 8 out a 10 complained about MS S&T. I was very Skeptical in trying DeLorme Earthmate GPS LT-40 2009 because never hear about it, but after I did some research find that 9 out 10 were very pleased with the map software & GPS. So I decided to give it a try, now I have both Microsoft Streets & Trips 2007 and Delorme Street Atlas 2009 both running with LT-40 GPS, so I am entitled to my own opinion. Microsoft Streets &Trips is a good Map Software, but the worse GPS, that's it! DeLorme Earthmate GPS LT-40 2009 is a better Map Software and the best GPS for Laptop, period.

Delorme GPS LT-40

If you have a Laptop Computer and travel, perfect companion. LT-40 is fast and simple and using the display of a laptop makes detailed mapping a reusable experience. You can plan your travel days in advance or seconds in advance and the audio plus visual directions makes traveling so easy.

Good protectors

These protectors are of excellent quality and it is good that they are sold in this three pack. I used these for my Garmin Nuvi 660 and they fit perfect. The best way to get these is to buy them when you buy the GPS so that you can take off the Garmin protector and then put these on in place. I did not do this so even though I cleaned it, I had to waste one before I got a decent fit. At least you have three shots at getting it right if you are trying to put a protector on your GPS that you have been using.

Garmin 010-10998-00 Foot Pod

Garmin 010-10998-00 Foot Pod

Does what it's supposed to do

I recently got a Forerunner 405 and love it. I wanted to work on my cadence, and realized I could do that with this product. Quite simply, I put it on my shoe and can see my cadence at all times, just like my heart rate and speed. I've found it to be a great training tool for my running. I have not tried using this on a treadmill or anything like that. I exclusively use this for cadence, and if you've been wanting to work on that, this is a great way to do it.

Works Flawlessly

I have my Foot Pod paired with my Garmin Forerunner 305 and am very satisfied. The Foot Pod has a plastic bracket that fits under my shoe string, while the Foot Pod fits over my shoe string. It can be a little difficult to get the two pieces to click together, but when they do they form a secure arrangement. I followed the instructions in the Forerunner manual and paired the Foot Pod with the Forerunner on the first try. Once this is done it does not have to be repeated since the Forerunner automatically detects the Foot Pod from then on. The Foot Pod measures my pace in strides per minute and also measures my distance traveled. I am a little disappointed that the Forerunner allows the distance measured by the Foot Pod to over ride the distance measured by the GPS in the Forerunner. I suspect the distance measured by the GPS is more accurate, but I can not find an option to force the GPS distance to be used while the Foot Pod is in use. Walking the same course results is a measured distance of 3.26 miles using the GPS and 3.30 miles using the Foot Pod, which I feel is good agreement. I did not have to follow the calibration instructions to achieve these results. Overall I have found the Foot Pod a great addition to my exercise equipment, especially when I am inside and out of range of the GPS satelittes.

The Pod

The foot pod looks a little cumbersome, but works well. I have it paired to my wife's Forerunner 50.

Garmin Carrying Case for Rino Series (010-10117-02)

Garmin Carrying Case for Rino Series (010-10117-02)

good casing

The product I received is not the same product I bought. The color is diferent and there is no world simbol.... But the product is very good. I'm satisfied.

Garmin Carrying Case

Perfect size for 76CSX. Good protection and keeps GPSr clean when not in use.

Gets the job done for a carrying case

The carrying case is basic and gets the job done. I suggest that it have a separate pocket for spare batteries and the USB cable.

Too BIG!

This case is just way too big for my GPS. After selecting the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS from Amazon, I made sure I selected the correct case by first going to the Garmin website to confirm Amazon's recommendation. Garmin showed this case and part number for the GPS so I also ordered it from Amazon at the same time as the GPS. When I received it, it was obviously way too big. You could probably fit 3 eTrex Vista GPS' in that case. I think Garmin must have determined size of their largest portable GPS and created this case, thinking any and all Garmin GPS' would fit. I didn't cut into the plastic packaging, so Amazon took it back and refunded the price. I had to pay shipping though since it was my (really Garmin's) mistake. I found a generic bag for the GPS that fit a lot better than the one by Garmin. I gave the case 2 stars only because of the bad fit. Otherwise I didn't see anything wrong or inferior about the product.

Safe and clean

I purchased this case to protect our Garmin 76CSX GPS unit purchased at the same time. The carrying case is well made, easy to open with the zippered closure, completely encloses the GPS and does a great job of protection. Highly recommended.

Garmin Hard Carrying Case for Colorado Handheld GPS Units

Garmin Hard Carrying Case for Colorado Handheld GPS Units

Good Case

Very good carrying case for the Colorado GPS. It gives good protection for the unit and is easy to use. My only complaint is size. It will hold only the unit and has no space for the carabiner that comes with the Colorado. It would be nice to have a slot or two to store regional microSD cards, too. Minor points so I still recommend the case.

Nice item, could be better!

I like this item, it provides good protection from bumping your gps into things. I would really like it to be air tight to keep sand out, it has a gap in the seem that will let in dirt and water. Not good for Iraq.

Offers no protection

Other than acting as a hard case to prevent bumps to your GPS, this case offers no additional protection to a very expensive investment. I expected the case to seal around the edges, but it does not (the only thing keeping the case closed is that little clip in the picture... I mistakingly thought it also zipped around the edges). So there's nothing preventing dirt, water, etc, from going right into the sides of the case. I use my GPS for fieldwork, and this case definitely wouldn't cut it. I returned mine, and certainly would not recommend this case to anyone.

Disappointing

I figured after the money spent on the Colorado from Garmin, they would have had a sweet hard case for this. I guess being an Otterbox user, I was expecting more. It was a hard case, but seemed cheaply made.

Great case, but be sure you need it.

This case does just what it should, and does it well. My only caution -- be sure you need and will use it. I ordered it when I ordered the Garmin. The Garmin came with a very stout and secure carabiner clip on. The Garmin itself is sturdy, and I just haven't felt the need for this semi-hard case. If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't get it. Again, that's not because it's not a very good case; it's only because I don't find myself needing or using it.

Garmin Suction Cup Mount with 12-Volt Adapter for Nuvi 350 and 360 (010-10935-00)

Garmin Suction Cup Mount with 12-Volt Adapter for Nuvi 350 and 360 (010-10935-00)

an extra for my second car

I bought this for another car I have so I don't have to keep taking the entire thing out and puting it in the other car. It works great except once in a while the suction comes undone because of extreme heat or cold. If you have heat or a/c on, it stays on fine. I have a Garmin nuvi 360 and I just move it from one car to the other. Very simple.

Makes Life Easier

This OEM Prodect works perfectly with my Nuvi. I have had no problems so far, although I have not used the suction cup mount (just the charger and the black piece that hooks up the garmin to my dashboard garmin stand). The only reason it lost a star is because I known from previous experience that the charger is susceptible to breaking, I've had one fall apart for no apparent reason before.

Better than the original

As every Garmin Nuvi 350 owner can attest, the original power cord is junk. So far this replacement has worked perfectly with no problems found on the original i.e. having to hold it in the 12v socket to get power. Nice that this kit also includes an exta mount so I can move it from vehicle to vehicle easier.

has everything you need and more

It comes with: the 12 volt adapter that plugs into the mounting head, the suction cup mount with armature and head, an additional mounting head, and a flat dashboard stick-on plate so it can be suction cupped to the dash instead of the windshield should you so choose. Definitely everything you need, everything fits well with the nuvi 370 I have, and all of it at a reasonable price.

WORKS AND SAME AS ORIGINAL

These are the same as original Garmin accessories, and were bought so mounts and cords did not have to be carried from car to car. They work....what else can I say?

Garmin compatible 12v Cigarette Lighter Power Adapter for StreetPilot III Deluxe, GPS 60 GPSMap 60C & 60CS, GPS 76, 76CS, 76C, GPS V, etc. (4-pin connector)

Garmin compatible 12v Cigarette Lighter Power Adapter for StreetPilot III Deluxe, GPS 60 GPSMap 60C & 60CS, GPS 76, 76CS, 76C, GPS V, etc. (4-pin connector)

Great Product!

I own three of these. I bought one for my fourwheeler and two more for our car and van. Why have to worry about your batteries running down when you most need you GPS?

Superior to my Garmin Power Adapter

THIS ADAPTER WORKS ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY! I bought this because my GARMIN Cigarette Lighter adapter has NEVER worked well. The Garmin's connection is horrible. I have to push it into my cigarette lighter really hard and kind of twist it and even then, I frequently can't get it to stay connected and loose power causing my GPS to go into the count-down mode to shut off. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS! It's reasonably priced and works perfectly.

Works exactly as advertised!

...and at a cheaper price than Garmin's equivalent. I took off 1 star because I emailed the manufacturer with a question and they never replied.

A must-have for when you're in the car

The Gilsson adapter is considerably cheaper than the Garmin, but it works like a charm. I use the adapter with my Garmin 60CSx receiver and have had no problems with it.

Much better than batteries!

I had been using my Garmin GPS with batteries for years. I used the rechargeable ones, keeping the cost low. I figured I didn't need the additional cords and hassle of the cigarette lighter power adapter. I purchased one on a whim, and I'm really happy with it. I didn't use the backlighting on the GPS at night before, because of how quickly it would drain the batteries. Now I can use it every minute, and I'm really enjoying my GPS even more. I'm glad I own this product.

Garmin A/C Charger for StreetPilot C Series

Garmin A/C Charger for StreetPilot C Series

Garmin A/C Charger

I misplaced my original charger for my Garmin GPS and could not find a charger anywhere else but Amazon.

Garmin sells 3 AC chargers. This is for StreetPilot c3xx.

010-10618-00 for StreetPilot c310 c320 c330 c340. 010-10747-04 for StreetPilot c510 c530 c550 c580. 010-10723-00 for StreetPilot i2/3/5 and all Nuvi. GPS may charge via USB. It's slower, but save $! :-Deal

You don't need it

I don't know why you would need this. We ordered it and only used it one time. After figuring out how to use our Garmin we discovered that our model does not hold a charge, thus we cannot carry it around and use it. To use it as a GPS, it has to be in a car and plugged into the outlet there. You wouldn't really have a need to have your GPS plugged in at your home, because it isn't moving and cannot function.

nice replacement charger

i have the garmin streetpilot c320. i've had it for almost 3 years now. but the other day i left the stand on the windsheild, in over 90 degree heat. so it was even hotter in my car. the ac adapter in my car was still plugged in to the stand, and when i pulled it out, the charger part of the stand broke off when i pulled it. i love my gps, i dont know what i'd do with out it, so i had to get a replacement. i decided to get this, so i dont have to mess with cords in my car. i can just bring the gps into the house when the battery is low. its really nice not have to wrap the stiff ac cord up when i put my gps away when not using it.

Garmin charger

I have never used the USB cord since I first set up my Garmin C340, so this is perfect to put a charge on my Streetpilot whether at home before heading out or when traveling. The price is great! Add it to the Garmin carrying case to get the free shipping. Awesome combo.

TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Maps of the U.S. and Canada (Refurbished)

TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Maps of the U.S. and Canada (Refurbished)

Does what it should, and does it well.

This TomTom unit works well, screen is easy to understand, and using it is simple. I had a Magellan before, would NEVER buy one again. Magellan's customer Service is horrible, TomToms support is much better and their website allows you to upgrade sattelite locations on your unit, so if you turn it on while you're driving, it finds you in less than a minute. The Magellan takes 5 - 10 minutes in the same situation! There are less points of interest on the TomTom, but that's not that important to me. Most of the time I have an address or I'm looking for a gas station or hotel, which are usually listed.

A good buy

Large, clear screen. Audio is clear and loud enough. Basic functionality, it gets the job done. A couple of times it *has* suggested routes which aren't optimal, so I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

tom tom xl

excellent gps. very easy to use and intuitive. boots and acquires position in just a few seconds.

GARMIN 010-10823-03 Adjustable Suction Cup

GARMIN 010-10823-03 Adjustable Suction Cup

Works great with Nuvi 360

Bought two of these for the price of one from Garmin directly -- arrived in 3 days with super saver shipping option. Couldn't have asked for a better service!

very useful

Easy to operate, fits well. Initially I was afraid if it work. No regrets.

PERFECT suction cup replacement for Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS!

This is the EXACT SAME suction cup model that came with my Garmin Nuvi 660. Delivery was faster AND cheaper through Amazon versus dealing directly though Garmin. Very pleased!

Garmin Forerunner 50 with Heart Rate Monitor, Foot Pod, USB ANT Stick

Garmin Forerunner 50 with Heart Rate Monitor, Foot Pod, USB ANT Stick

The ant is not reliable

I have had the Garmin Forerunner 50 for 4 weeks now and have run with it 4-5x per week. The basic tools are very useful - speed, distance, etc. But my ant stick is very tempermental. One day it works, one day it doesn't. Now it won't show up at all on my computer and the product manual and website are not helpful. I have tried the basics to fix it but don't know what else I can do. So I called Garmin. Their automated message told me that it was a 30-35 minute wait time for help. It should be just a quick install and never have to worry about it again.

Garmin 50

If you need a training watch that measures heart rate, distance, pace, calories, and is inexpensive this is it. The chest strap and foot pod come pre-synched and work great right out of the box. The foot pod's measurement was right on with my car's odometer during my first 8.5 mile run. The watch is easy to use and looks like a watch. A solid 5 stars, way to go Garmin!

love my garmin!

I've had for one week, and I'm thrilled!! I just wanted distance, pace, and heart rate, and it gives me all of these, plus more! Also, when I get home from my run, it makes nice fancy graphs and records all of my information while I recover!! Its my own little robot :) This price is a STEAL compared to any other vendor. I chose this over a Nike + Sportsband, and the two don't truly compare. Its easy enough for a first time runner, but good enough for one who plans to run for a long, long time!!

Great hardware, Garmin Connect still developing

I did a lot of research before purchasing and was down to the 305, 405, and 50. I really wanted a GPS watch, but the price of the Forerunner 50 with footpod and HR monitor couldn't be beat. I also liked the smaller watch and the fact that it didn't need to be charged. After owning it a week: I really like the watch. I don't typically wear them, but it is very comfortable. It is only slightly larger than a typical watch and has a fine adjustment on the band. I'm wearing it all the time. The hardware is impressive. The foot pod and HR monitor worked very well right out of the box, and were comfortable to wear. They "paired" right away and were ready to go when I was ready to run. The ANT installation went as advertised on windows vista, and the upload works automatically for Garmin Training Center, but not Garmin Connect. Possible improvements: For the watch itself, the number of "views" while in training mode can be confusing. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it with use or reading manual, but it is clearly more than I'm used to. Installation: The process seemed to drive you toward choosing either Garmin Training Center (software on your computer) or Garmin Connect (web sofware), but not both. I didn't know the pro/con of either, so I wanted to try both. It was awkward when it wanted me to install ANT drivers again for the installation of the second one. I canceled the installation at that point - but found that Training Center was installed. Software: It is really not clear to me if Garmin Training Center is still being developed. They seem to be improving Garmin Connect (web) regularly, but at its current state, it doesn't have any benefit over Training Center. (remember - I'm not seeing the GPS/maps, so maybe there is distinction there). So after a week, I still find myself bouncing back and forth. There are a few bugs in Garmin Connect and a few notable features that I would really like to see (that is available in other web training software). Results: I'm very happy with the HR monitor and cadence results. They seem spot on and reliable. I'm still working on the distance and pace. I did a test 3 mile run on a measured course and found that it recorded 3.1 miles. I messed up a calibration run by hitting the wrong button, so I'll be trying that again (a subsequent 8 mile run was recorded as a 9 mile run... argghh). I've found that the instantaneous pace is not accurate, but hope it will improve with calibration. Garmin Connect is also doing something weird with the average pace calculation... but I think that is a bug that will be fixed. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase, but hope they continue to improve the software. Currently, that is the weakest link. If they don't, there may be other sites that accept forerunner uploaded data to fill the gap.

Great Garmin

Very good product. The things I like best about this product are: 1. You don't have to charge the watch, like some other models 2. It isn't bulky, like some other models 3. The foot pod is great for measuring speed, cadence, and distance The only cons I have are that the telemetry strap is not compatible with cardio machines in a gym that have heart rate monitors built into them (so you always have to bring the watch with you), and the software for viewing your comleted workouts is pretty bare bones. I am willing to bet that Garmin will roll out software upgrades in the future though.
