Garmin Edge 605 Bicycle Computer and GPS Navigator

Garmin Edge 605 Bicycle Computer and GPS Navigator

No total ascent

I am a mountain biker and wanted the new Edge 605 mainly to give me net ascent totals. For all I paid for it, I was so shocked it does not have this feature. None of Garmin's marketing was specific enough for me to know this. I had to go through the manual in detail before I realized it. What a disappointment!

Not worth it's value

I agree with all the reviewers. 1. You have to buy City Navigator for 100 bucks! Why isn't it included? 2. The backlight problem is irritating 3. It does lead you off to busier roads sometimes when there are better roads available. (even if you set the unit to avoid using highways) 4. Over and above, if you have to quickly enter a cue sheet or way points on the unit, god help you. You'll stay behind entering info while the rest of the group would have finished the first half of the ride and are on their way back. And all said and done, it is still useful (if you get City Navigator) and you plan ahead carefully and you do your homework. You can download and upload routes even though it is not so straight forward. It also needs a little getting used to. Bottom line: If you have the money....and don't care that it adds only so much value for 500 bucks....buy it. Otherwise you'll end up with buyer's remorse - for sure.

Good But With Some Problems

I think that the previous reviews for the 605 are a bit harsh. Let me get right to the negatives of the product as I see it. 1. The route algoritm allows you to select an option where it diverts you around major highways and roads. While this works 90% of the time, every so often it will direct me right onto a major highway or traffic circle when there are better routes available. 2. Backlighting settings not being saved is a pain as the other reviewer mentioned 3. The straps that the 605 comes with to attach to your bike aren't strong enough. After a few rides my 605 tends to move around to much requiring constant re-adjustment, especially on bumpy roads. I plan on adding some velcro to the back which should solve the problem 4. The free Training Center software that you can use with the 605 is pretty much a waste. Outside of storing your rides and keeping a history of ride statistics, it's not worth the download. 5. The detailed street maps do not come standard with the unit. For $399 I was expecting them to and don't think Garmin made this point clear on their site. Outside of the above, I really don't think that I could not recommend the 605. Its not perfect but it really does make riding easier when you don't have to mentally keep track of where you are or worry about getting lost.

Not Ready for Primetime

I agree with the first reviewer, I bought this anticipating it at least had some maps and streets on it, it has pretty much nothing, it is worthless until you buy a sd card with the preloaded maps, to top it off the descriptions of what you can expect when you buy an sd card whether it be a topo map of an area or city navigator is pretty vague, I also thought I would be able to upload routes and follow them, no, nope, not happening until someone hacks into this thing, if I had it to do over again I wouldn't buy this, I bought a Quest (garmin) a few years ago for a couple hundred more dollars and a bike mount and used that with much more success, I would still be using it if it still worked, (kept falling off windshield of car until the antenna broke off) another better option would be a nuvi with a bike mount, 199.00 + bike mount, anyway I wouldnt reccomend this item. but I will say this, having a gps on my bike has been a life saver where I ride, dirtroads, min maint roads, sometimes far from home, I have been able to ride without fear of getting lost and not getting home or wondering how far from home I am as well as being able to tell my wife exactly where I need rescued at. I do reccomend GPS for your bike if you are going to be in this situation, I love it, but I would go with the Quest with the bike mount.

Terrible.

I bought the 605 for a couple of reasons. First was the turn-by-turn directions. What Garmin is vague about is that to get turn-by-turn directions, you have to buy their City Navigator Map card for another $100. Ok, fine. Bought the map. First attempt at getting directions - picked a destination 25 miles from home (nothing too difficult, as a test). The unit literally took 23 minutes to plot the course. 23 minutes! Unbelievable. Car navigators take seconds. Once the unit plotted the course, I noticed that it took me through the Holland Tunnel (leaving New York City) and on a freeway. Not exactly how I pictured my first bike ride with the thing. Ok, so maybe the plotting doesn't work so well. I figured maybe I could just create routes on my computer and upload them to the device. Nope. Not possible. I took a closer look at the manual. No help whatsoever. It's a joke, actually. On-line help? Ha. Go to Garmin's website. Download the manual. Try to find any good, specific, detailed information on how to really use the device. It's not possible. Somewhere in the Amazon listing, Garmin also promises SPOKEN directions. Nope. Totally not a feature either. It's really amazing how bad this thing is. It does almost nothing except tell you where you are. Which is what my $90 Garmin Geko did 4 years ago. As for the cycle-computer functions, I got better data with my $30 Cateye. The Garmin's data is very slow to update and the altitude was always wrong. The unit doesn't come with a heart rate strap - and I didn't expect it to. But if you ever want to upgrade later and add one - forget it. You need the 705 for that. I really can't believe what a piece of junk this is. Also, it lets you set the backlight level - nice feature, except that whenever you turn the unit off, it forgets your setting and reverts to no backlight. So everytime you turn the thing on you have to reset your backlight setting. Arg. It is true that you can log on to Motion Based (Garmin's GPS web-community) and download other users' routes. But the unit will only hold one at a time. And there's no way to edit the routes. You can't edit your own routes on a computer either. So frustrating. I've never been so underwhelmed over a product. Here's all I want (Garmin, are you listening?): -Decent turn-by-turn directions. For a BICYCLE. And instantly (or under 2 minutes). -Ability to download routes I've ridden and edit them, then upload them back to the device. -Ability to create a route from scratch and upload it to the device. I'm not asking for much. This thing does NONE OF THE ABOVE. Whatever you do, don't buy this thing. Unless you want to buy mine on eBay.

Garmin Bicycle Mount for eTrex and Summit (010-10267-00)

Garmin Bicycle Mount for eTrex and Summit (010-10267-00)

Very Secure and Easy To Use

I love this device for my bicycle. It works very well, is very sturdy and is very secure. I would love to see a product with the option to buy two bicycle mounts since I have several different bicycles.

Bad Design!

Put simply, this case was badly designed for mountain bikers! I sold mine 2 weeks after buying it. Why is it bad? The whole gps is supported by the bottom battery case, which in turn is supported by a tiny metal hinge in the case. With all the vibrations in mountain biking, the hinge will eventually become loose and perhaps the batteries may come loose. I've heard of batteries coming loose from other users and the gps loosing power! Garmin needs to design a holder that holds the entire gps body rather than the battery cover only. Bottom line : NEVER get this for mountain biking. It might perhaps be a little less damaging in road biking.

These seems good so far but if you have a eTrex Vista hcx read on...

I've got the eTrex Vista hcx and was immediatly annoyed that it wasn't as waterproof as the original cover. And then I realized I could not get the battery cover to work. BUT what I discovered is all you need is the 010-10496-00 (search Amazon for part number) for the part that is what goes on the handle bars (and a tiny part that comes with the HCX). It's only a little cheaper but it's all you need. I'm assuming this is true for any of the models with memory cards since that was my problem in getting it to work. Before I got this I knew the part I wouldn't like: I'll need a phillips to get the handlebar adaptor on and off when traveling (when renting a bike or ORV). But now my biggest complaints are tied to the tiny piece I mentioned above: one it needs a flathead screwdriver to attach to the case, and (2) it's pretty small (in terms of losing it). Because of this I'm tempted to file down the inside of the new battery cover so it fits my HCX. This way I won't lose anything (or have the flathead screw get loose). Or just buy a spare battery cover (not sold at Amazon but only $10) and leave the adapter permanently screwed on.

Don't worry. ¡It does work!

Don't worry. Use the "auxiliary mount adapter" that comes with your GPS unit, may be you have dropped it into the box. This adapter attaches to the GPS unit easily, screwing it on the back of the original battery cover, don't remove it, and don't replace it with the bike mount cover, it is useless. Now you can install the Etrex either on the handlebar mount or on the Suction Mounting Bracket. You don't need to buy anything else.

It does not work for a etrex venture CX

What a disappointment. The battery cover does not work on a eTrex Venture CX model. What a disappointment. The CX has a flash card slot on the upper left which requires a notch in the cover. This one does not have the notch so it will not fit. I also do not have the o-ring mentioned by the other reviewer so I am not sure if it will seal 100% on regular units anyway. What a bummer I threw away the packaging before I actually tried to mount it on the bicycle anyway. What a bummer.

Garmin Automotive Mount for nüvi

Garmin Automotive Mount for nüvi

Dash mount for Nuvi

I received the window mount with my Nuvi, but wanted the dash mount instead. The dash mount was easy to install and works great!

This is a permanent mount!

I had to buy a new NUVI mount as my original one broke after 6 months of infrequent use. The description of this mount made me think it was removable, but turns out you have to stick an adhesive on your dash. The package comes with two adhesives (one permanent, the other "removable")but the instructions don't specify which is which, so if you make the 50/50 mistake of putting the permanent adhesive on, you'll have a difficult time removing it. I returned the product to Amazon.

Garmin NUVI mount

This package is not applicable to the Nuvi 660 unit. The ball mount & sticky pads are o.k. but the interface connector is not compatible with the Nuvi 660. The interface does not match the 660 mounting features and the power connector doesn't match the cable that is shipped with the 660. The concept of being able to easily move the unit from one vehicle to the next is not as convenient as you would expect.

Use the permanent disk

I used the adhesive-disk mount for my old c340, using the permanent adhesive disk, and got a new 350 and dash mount setup. I pulled on the old mount and it wouldn't budge. I took a wide wood chisel, inserted it under the "frame" of the mount, and the mount came off with the adhesive disk still attached. I had used alcohol to degrease the dash when I had mounted it. It came off clean with no residue on the dash. I've mounted the new 350 mount in the same spot, but if I hadn't used another disk mount, noone could tell there was ever a mount in the spot. I have a 2007 Saab and there is no truly flat spot on the dash, but this mount never moved in two years. Go for the permanent adhesive mount. It's cleaner than the temporary when you remove it.

come on Amazon, check what you sell !

I recently purchased Garmin 360, plus Amazon recomended additional accessories, vehicle power cable 010-10723-06 + carrying case 010-10723-02. These items ARE also part of the GPS kit, which I returned at my own cost as Amazon determined ordering them was my own fault, and as of today credit was not issued. To add insult to injury, the included Garmin Automotive Mount for Nuvi (010-10723-04 ?) does NOT fit . Fortunately Garmin Product Support emailed me to replace same in 5-7 business days. Incidently, the GPS works great with map updates although to update took for evvvvverrrrr

Garmin Suction Cup Mount for Nuvi (010-10723-03)

Garmin Suction Cup Mount for Nuvi (010-10723-03)

Mostly good

The basic Garmin product is very good (Nuvi 350), however the windshield mounting suction cup fails repeatedly when the summer sun falls directly on it - a situation that cannot always be avoided. You come back to the car to find the GPS unit on the dashboard or on the floor. In such cases, a bit of the surface of the suction cup remains on the windshield, so that the next attempts to use it are of increasingly shorter duration. The new suction cup holds better than the old, but I suspect that with age it will also fail. It would seem to me that the cup needs to be deeper - the present one is very shallow. A SMALL amount of glycerine on JUST THE RIM of the cup seems to help. The use of the metalic windshield mounting disk seems to help only minimally. The service of the supplier used by Amazon for the replacement part was exceptional, and should be commended.

This thing broke in three days

I got same mount with my GPS unit. The mount broke in 3 days. Now I must hold the GPS or put it on passenger seat (if no passenger) and just listen to the instructions. I don't like the design. It has the extra middle unit that does nothing more but made this thing hard to use. It can be made much simpler. Why not a simple mount without the extra middle unit? You can already plug the charger to GPS power slot! Why the extra step and extra unit? This is just a waste of materials without adding additional value. I really need a mount to use the GPS. However, if I order this one and spend another $20, I would have no confidence on the new one. It may break in 3 days, or have other problems as described by the reviewers. And how about the hassle of returning a $20 thing and going through the laborious warrantee process? That was the reason I visited this accessory item. Well, after seeing all reviews, I would rather keep my $20 and save myself from some more disappointment.

Garmin accessory

Product was a replacement for one that broke. Have been very satified with it's past usage.

be careful of this

Not all cups fit all Nuvi's This one doesn't fit a 680 and you can't tell from the description.

Get the Bean bag mount instead!!!

I have had many problems with this suction cup mount, and I now have the bean bag mount. The bean bag mount is 1000 times better!! We absolutely love it and you will too.

Nokia N82 Unlocked Smartphone with 5 MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver)

Nokia N82 Unlocked Smartphone with 5 MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver)

perfect

it's the perfect phone, maybe the only con is that since its a symbian it may be kinda slow for some apps, but great, 10 out of 10.

Versatile phone with great camera

I purchased this phone primarily because of the camera: 5 Megapixels, and with a real-camera xenon flash (most phones have inferior LCD 'flash'). In that respect I'm not disappointed. Still, a few details about that camera: in order to turn on the camera, you have to slide open the protective lens cover (a few times I've been frustrated at my inability to launch the camera app - until I remember that protective cover!). Next, the camera is a bit slow to start up. Count on 3 seconds from the flick of the cover switch until you're ready to shoot. When you start the camera app, it's in picture mode. To switch into video mode, you need to find the right icon in the little vertical toolbar on the right side of the screen, and press OK. That toolbar has more elements than can be seen on the screen at one time, and if you have at one point in the past scrolled down that list (perhaps inadvertently) you may end up wondering why your picture/video icon has disappeared; simply scroll back up. After taking a picture (using the dedicated shutter button) on the right side of the phone, in order to take a second picture (if you are in single-picture mode) you will have to press the right soft key (below the word 'Back' on your screen). If you instead mistakenly press the dedicate multimedia key immediately below that, you'll end up launching the Gallery application instead, and you'll have to press the right soft key again to exit that app and return to the camera app. If you leave the camera app for any reason, there are two ways to start it again. Either close and reopen the lens cover while on your home screen, or else press and hold the camera shutter. Once captured, pictures and videos can be saved to albums, or uploaded over the air to Nokia's Ovi on-line application, or to Flickr or Vox. I really like this feature! Take a pic while you are out and about, and immediately it's online for your friends to see. Turning to other features... The GPS is fairly useful and does a good job of recording a tracklog using the free Nokia SportsTracker application (see http://sportstracker.nokia.com). One gripe: you can only upload tracklogs to the SportsTracker app using a cellular data connection, not WiFi. The WiFi works well also, and you can define named access points, which, when you are trying to connect to the internet, will only appear in your list when you are in range of them (you can delete them in Tools if you want). You can set the phone to always prompt you and ask if you wish to connect via WiFi or cellular data. Save some money on data usage! The built-in browser is acceptable, and *way* better than the Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer that's provided on Windows Mobile devices, but if you are a demanding user you will prefer to download and install Opera Mini. Speaking of downloading, you can download many apps and install them over the air - no pesky desktop synchronization required. The built-in messaging client is acceptable, and can handle multiple accounts. One quirk is that it wants to define one account as being active, and all outgoing mail will try to go through that account (you can change active accounts with the "Connect" menu item) unless you change it in Sending Options before pressing Send. Make sure you are properly communicating with your mail server before composing a big message however, since Messaging will simply delete your outgoing message if it cannot connect to the server. Others can talk about music and video playing as I don't use those features much. Gripes: - This phone is billed as 'US Version' but the UMTS (3G connection) is on 2100 MHz whereas most N. American cellular providers are on 1900 MHz. So, you may only be getting EDGE speed for your data transfers. (about 150 kilobytes/sec). - intensive texting is a bit of a pain given the very small keys. You can substantially improve your accuracy, speed and overall pleasure of text input by installing Adaptxt, which provides predictive word completion for a reasonable fee; you can try the app for 90 days from adaptxt.com before you buy. On the plus side, you can pair a bluetooth keyboard (like the iGo, or Apple's wireless keyboard) to the N82 and type away with a real keyboard. I love this capability. - unlike Windows Mobile phones, there's no office suite included with the phone. But if you have a good data plan, you could just use Google Docs instead and do all your work on-line.

nice phone

So far I really enjoy it ,I've been dying to have this phone but I couldn't find a good deal, thanks to Amazon.com

Crappy assembling but with great performance

There is an obvious leak between front panel and side, I think it probably caused by cost-down fabrication. Plus, I just turned from windows mobile phone, so I couldn't get used to it at beginning. Otherwise, this NOKIA phone is well-function and smooth.

Better than an iphone

This phone is great, SOLID construction. The people who say the phone feels cheap must be construction workers who usually use ruggedized phones. They also must not have used the iphone which has a way cheaper look and feel.

Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet

Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet

slow...freezes...not worth it..

Pro: 1) browser with flash support 2) keyboard 3) linux 4) Beautiful screen. Cons: 1) Slow. Slow. Slow. Don't know where to start. The browser is slow. To its credit, if you disable flash, the browser feels 2x faster but then again that's why people choose this over ipod touch right? for flash? if flash make the system slow as a pig, then it's a feature that subtracts from the value, not enhances it. 2) Stalls. When some programs needs/hogs CPU, "mail app" + "browser", the system/UI freezes/stalled for unspecified periods of time. Very very annoying. 3) Appears the device lacks enough ram or that the application are bloated or use too much ram. In any case, having even 2 programs running at a time, degrades the experience. ---- Overall, I had high hopes but was very disappointed. It could be much much more but there is not enough ram and most apps are CPU hogs causing UI stalls.

Lovely gadget

Just great. Having a complete computer in your pocket enables you to do unexpected things. The decision of using Debian as a base gives you the choice of thousads of appplications to be used, although Nokia could provide a tidier way of organising the community apps. It works great as a SIP phone, too. And I don't regret that it doesn't have mobile telephony included, I prefer them separate, and also the Nokia can control the telephone with bluetooth.

Good internet tablet, but not a PIM

Some random thoughts. Great price for some nice hardware. The fit and finish is great. The device is a good internet tablet, but does not have strong PIM functionality. Additional community software is helping in this area. If Linux is your thing, there are a lot of additional packages out in the community that really expands the functionality. Wifi and tethering to Nokia N75 work great for connectivity anywhere. Very smooth. Built in email client has some performance issues with a large Google account via IMAP. The latest update of the tablet has helped. By the way, make sure you flash the most current firmware right out of the box. GPS is cool, but the maps are OK for rural America. Still looking for the "killer app" that uses this feature. The Turn by turn functionality is an additional subscription to the built in software.

Fantastic Portable Internet Device.

This device is amazing. Bigger screen and better resolution than an Iphone or Ipod Touch (4.1" and 800 x 480 pixel resolution vs. Iphone/Ipod Touch's 3.5" and 480 X 320). I did a comparison of this tablet vs. my friends Iphone. While searching popular sites like nytimes, espn, cnn, I immediately noticed how I do not need to zoom in on text because I can read it clearly vs. an Iphone where you are forced to "pinch" the screen and increase the text size. The higher resolution makes the web sites much nicer to browse, and instead of touching the screen and getting prints and grease on it, you use a "stylus" which is held within the device to do all the tapping for you. And let's not forget the pull out QWERTY pad. The biggest plus of them all. Also contains a hinge that pulls out so you can easily place the tablet on a flat surface if you want to show others photos, websites, etc. And it plays videos from youtube with no hitches. The only negative is that this is not a phone, nor can you always access the internet. You will either need to find a wifi hotspot or tether the tablet to your cell phone via bluetooth (a heads up, you will need a data plan with your cell phone provider to do that). If you are totally against carrying a phone and this tablet around, then maybe this device is not for you. But I'll happily place the tablet in my pocket just for the superior internet experience it provides. Plus wifi spots are everywhere, and this device is fantastic at finding them.

Worth every penny.

I live in Germany so no iphone for me, but I love this Nokia. I bought it to use as a PDA but the internet feature is great. I'm writing this review on it at a cafe in Ireland. It picks up networks quickly and the d/l speed is great. The screen is beautiful and the touch sensor works well. The chassis is beautiful as well and the keyboard is big enough for my fat fingers. The build quality is excellent and the buttons are useful and laid out well. The battery lasts plenty long enough (6-7 hours straight use) and charges quickly. The only things I don't like are that the flip stand is a little sharp on the edges and irritates my fingers a bit when I hold it and flash games can't keep a good framerate (it comes with some good games that work well though).

Garmin City Navigator NT SD Data Card for Garmin GPS Units, Europe (010-10680-00)

Garmin City Navigator NT SD Data Card for Garmin GPS Units, Europe (010-10680-00)

worked in Germany

Was very useful Germany. It guided us around roundabouts, and even had tiny one lane farm roads in it. Was not entirely up to date but that didn't cause any problems. Can set the Garmin to "pedestrian" to use in the city.

Of no use in Brazil

The Brazilian map is of no use. I live here and used it on approx. 1'000 miles. a) In the city, streets are lacking, have outdated intersections, returns etc. And the map is constantly off some 100 ft. b) On the countryside the situation is even worse: the location of the streets, cities, intersections is off by several miles. Existing streets are missing, streets on the map are inexistent. Result in both cases: The routes created by the GPS device are simply wrong. The wrong position causes the device to constantly recalculate the route (as it sees itself never at the actual location) in another wrong way. As for the wrong maps: I "cruised" miles over the sea (in my car), on the other side, the ferry boat Salvador-Itaparica "drove" on land. Cities are on the wrong side of a river (imagine in a country where a bridge may be an issue of 100 miles and up!). If I had followed the routes calculated by Garmin, I would have had to dissemble the car: the only way to follow Garmin's route would have been by a canoe ferry. Even as a compass it is unusable: E.G. In case you are driving west (miles south of the road shown on the map) and you are approaching a road coming from the south, getting closer to this "southern road" than your actual "western road", the device thinks that you are driving north on the "southern road". Confusing? Yes that's what it is all about. You are constantly busy thinking "what does it show, what could that mean?". Don't waste your time!

Works fine

Works perrfect in Brazil. In Recife, where I live, its poor regarding restaurants/POI. Delivered quickly.

Lacks atualization

The brazilian map requires atualization, there are shopping centers, streets and other places that are more than 3 years old and they don't appear in the gps guide. Besides that it works perfectly.

Exactly as described, a smooth transaction.

The maps work well in my Garmin Nuvi 350. This was a nice transaction.

Magellan Maestro 4040 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth and Text-to-Speech (Refurbished)

Magellan Maestro 4040 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth and Text-to-Speech (Refurbished)

Very easy to use, TTS, Blue Tooth, Large Screen @ Low Price

I got this unit to replace Mio c230. The refurbished unit looks like new, no blemishes what so ever; and ready to use right out of the box. The first main screen has three icons: "Show Map" (will show you the current location), "Enter Address", and "Points Of Interest". At the bottom of the screen there are three small icons: "Home" (to store your home address, by tapping on it the Maestro will take you home), "AAA Roadside Assistance" icon, and "Phone" icon (to make phone calls thru the unit's Blue Tooth). Entering address is real easy; you have a choice of entering zip code, city name, or current city. Then enter the street name, just few letters and the Maestro will find few matching street names to choose from; then enter the number, choose the navigation preference (Fastest Time, Least / Most use of highway or Shortest distance); that simple. The destination may also be an intersection, or picked from the address book, where you can store a large number of addresses. The second main screen has three icons: Trip Planer, where you can enter multiple addresses (up to 20), then chose the sequence or let the Maestro "optimize" the rout for you. This "Trip Planer" is very useful for anyone especially succor Moms, sales people and the likes (Garmin does not have this feature). The second icon "Exit POI" will display a list of POI on the next Freeway Exit, be it Gas, Food, ... etc. tap on anyone, and the Maestro will take you there. The last Icon is "User Options", where you can setup your preference: the map region, volume, brightness, trip computer, 2D / 3D map, Language, Time Zone.. .etc. The map screen ("Normal" and "Routing" mode)is displayed while navigating, this is what I like the most: On the top it shows the name of street you're on, the direction of travel (N, E, S, W) and the satellite status. The bottom of the screen shows the time of the day, Main Menu Icon, and current speed. On the sides there are icons to zoom in or out, change volume or mute. If you tap on the direction indicator, it will show your current location (Street name & nearest crossing street) which can be saved to the "Address Book", and useful if you need roadside assistance . An arrow indicate your position on the map. In "Routing" mode, the screen shows the next maneuver icon in the lower left corner, tap on it to display a list of maneuvers. As you approach POI, it will be displayed on the screen, tap on POI, and the Maestro will take you there. As a maneuver is approached, the Maestro will automatically split the screen to show the shape / direction of the next maneuver. The bottom display is replaced by distance to next maneuver and remaining time / distance to final destination. This unit also has an SD card expansion slot, and a standard earphone plug (which is helpful if you are in a convertible or on a motorcycle, I replaced my Mio C230 only because it lacked this feature). It comes pre loaded with maps for the US, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. A voice command option is available as well as traffic alert. Included in the box with the Maestro 4040: A/C home charger, Car Cigarette Lighter Charger, Windshield mount, Adhesive disk, Protective Pouch, Quick reference Guide, User Manual on CD and USB Data Cable. This unit is very good overall and very easy to use. One thing worth noting: It will not remember a destination unless you save it in the address book; i.e. it will not keep a history log. I've also done some search, and it seems that there is no road map for Europe compatible with this unit. If someone knows of an available one, please let me know.

Wife will learn

Bought this for my wife. She is a bit un-educated about electronics. I am using this quit a bit now, my Duaghter is off to a university. It helps alot if you have the adress avaibale for entering the route! I love the way it goes dark at sundown and lightens up when the sun rises! Lets me know when the headlights should go on andf off. hehehe Great details and a must have for new drivers! Only draw-back, newer drivers can get really use to using this device instead of learning the roads! I would suggest this for more experienced drivers myself, but helps a great deal for going to new places. I would highly suggest buying a GPS. If you are on the border, and contemplating getting one - the answer is YES!

Refurbished GPS works great!

This item was purchased as a replacement for the same model GPS unit stolen from my daughter's car. It arrived promptly and works great! As you may or may not know, Magellan GPS units are wonderful, but their Customer Service is the worst in the industry, by far. If you never have anything go wrong with one of their units, you'll do fine. If you *do* have something go wrong, or even just require their help to set up software, etc., then God Help You ... This is why I've given the unit only 3 stars. 5 stars for the unit, and *0* for Magellan as a company.

Excellent GPS for the money

As a refurbished GPS you can't beat it for the money. AAA info is great if you are a AAA member or not. Blue tooth handy if you want to call phone #'s in the GPS for reservations ETC.Has been very accurate. Occasionally will try to send you on a less preferred road but You can change travel from quickest shortest etc that will change that.I've found new features for the last 2 months.Seems very quick to start and re-route.I recommend this GPS to everyone.

Great product

Got this refurbished as the deal of the day! Was a little skeptical but it has been great. I even use it on places I know how to get to just so I can see my estimated arrival time. Would highly recommend!

Much Better than Garmin's Own Car Adapter

After about 15 uses, the car adapter that came with my Garmin Nuvi 660 broke. It was cheaply made, so I didn't want to spend the money on postage costs to have it repaired/replaced under the warranty. This Gilsson adapter is better made (heavier plastic), shorter in length (so it fits in my compact carrying case better, & it doesn't get in the way of my car's coin compartment like the Garmin did), easier to grip (unlike the Garmin, it has finger indentations & a tapered design), makes better contact with the power source, & costs less! Garmin users should note that the Gilsson adapter does not have the FM receiver that the Garmin has. I tried the Gilsson adapter in a car that has only a wire (in the window) antenna; that antenna, as you might imagine, gives lousy radio reception, so almost every FM station is considered by the Garmin to be am empty spot on the dial, even in a metropolitan area. This Gilsson adapter worked wonderfully in my particular situation--the Garmin's voice directions came through the FM radio loud & clear. For those of you needing a replacement (or second, as a back-up) adapter, I highly recommend this unit.

Mizmi G11000 GPS Dash Mount

Mizmi G11000 GPS Dash Mount

Help

I just ordered this and alot of people say it has no instructions. How does it work or how do you mount the GPS in this? Help pls.

Super Mount

This mount is awesome,a little smaller than others out there, but heavier so as not to move on the dash.Works great with my Sony 4.8 inch GPS.I recommend this to others.

Best GPS Dash Mount Available

This bean bag mount is smaller than the similar Bracketron product, which I also bought, and has a superior gripping base. I would definitely recommend this; especially given the price.

Excellent GPS Mount

I have owned the Bracketron dash mount for about 4 months now. I have used it in 4 different make cars with my TomTom 1 XLS. It has made a 1200 mile round trip to Ohio, a 4000 mile round trip to Florida and several 350 mile round trips to New Jersey from my home in Southern Maryland. In every case it was easy to find a good place for it, easily removed without leaving any tell tale traces of a GPS in the car and sat right where I put it without ever slipping even a fraction of an inch. If you are going to use a portable GPS, this is a must have.

gps mount

The dash mount works as it should. It holds my gps nuvi 200 securely.

Garmin Suction Cup Mount with 12-Volt Adapter for Nuvi 660 (010-10935-02)

Garmin Suction Cup Mount with 12-Volt Adapter for Nuvi 660 (010-10935-02)

Worthless on my 2 vehicles

Wouldn't stick on my 2 vehicle ('95 4runner and 2000 Jetta), maybe because of the curved windshield. Bought the bean bag and am very happy with that. It's the way to go IMHO. You can than hide it when you leave the car leaving no telltale apparatus to tempt thieves.

Not quite an identical replacement...

I ordered a replacement for my suction-cup and A/C adapter in hopes that it would fix the periodic power-losses I am seeing with my Nuvi 660. I had my previous cable strung underneath my dashboard and up to the lower left-hand corner of my windshield which resulted in just a little bit of slack. However, when I went to replace the cable, I found that the A/C adapter cable that comes with this product is about 6 inches shorter than the stock cable that came with my Nuvi. It's not long enough to work with my current configuration...and I will now have to find an alternate means of mounting my Nuvi.

Falling Off

After 8 months of using it (removing and reattaching) to my windshield, it starting to keep on falling off the windshield of my 2004 Toyota Sienna. It seems to be happening similar to the original suction cup that came with my NUVI 660.

Garmin GPS Adapter

I wanted an adapter for my second vehicle. It worked as well as the original.

a good option

This has proven to be an excellent option. It is convienent and works perfectly. As I am using it in a small roadster, I do wish it had a coiled cord.

Navigon AC Wall Charger

Navigon AC Wall Charger

DOES THE JOB

THIS PRODUCT ALLOWS YOU TO CHARGE YOUR GPS INSIDE THE HOUSE SO YOU CAN PROGRAM IT AND HAVE IT READY TO GO WHEN NEEDED.

A home charger adaptor for any Navigon GPS unit

This is your basic, no frills, home wall charger for use with any Navigon GPS unit. It allows you to charge your Navigon GPS unit's battery in your own home by inserting the receptacle end of the car charger cord into the wall charger and the other into the GPS. The GPS has an indicator light on it to let you know when it's fully charged. Without this home unit the only way to charge your GPS battery is to do it from your car. (possibly wasting time and gas if you weren't planning to go somewhere) Conclusion: It worked as expected. 5 Stars

Need addition to our Navigon

The wall charger for our Navigon is a nice tool for us. We can sit at the kitchen table and plan our routes on the Navigon without fear of running down the battery. That's exactly why we purchased it and that's exactly what it does. We use it all the time.

Wall Charger

Works just as it should. Also conforms to warrantee requirements, unlike the ones from Radio Shack or elsewhere. Spend the $20 bucks.

Do buy this indoor charger for your Navigon 2100

I bought this indoor charger immediatly after I got my Navigon 2100 GPS. Like my cell phone, there are times when you want your equipment charged up and ready to go without always depending on the car charger. The light will turn green after a couple of hours on the indoor wall socket and will charge it for 2 or 3 hours. It's nice to hand-hold it as a passenger or practice using it outside on the patio. It just reduces the need to always be depending on cords and the car charger when you might also need it for your cell phone.( $20. plus a new hairbrush for free shipping.)

Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case

Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case

Great product

The case is great. The zipper is on the outside part so it will not scratch the gps. It has a little bit of room inside for the gps to move but it's just a little bit. The look is very nice in and out. It has bands on both sides (one for each, left and right) so that the gps will not fall off if you open it. This is a hard shell case so it will definitely protect the gps more than the soft padded cases. The picture is exactly how it looks like. The shape of the case is the same as the shape of the Navigon gps although you could fit other types of gps in it since it has a little bit of extra room inside. Overall, it is great.

WASTE!

This case is NOT hard. It is just a little purse with a zipper. Do not waste your money!

Average at best

I got this case for my Navigon 2100. It looks cool. Gray and orange is not bad. The material for the case is decent both outside and inside. The zipper sucks big time. Very cheap and hard to open/close. Like other people said, the case is big and your unit will move around in it. Just your average case, something that I needed.

Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case

Navigon 3.5" Protective Hard Shell Case Great little case. Does the job for me.

GPS Case

This product is ideal for protecting your GPS when removing the unit for storage or moving the unit from vehicle to vehicle. One of the best I have seen for the money and a lot better than the more expensive ones.

Navigon FreshMaps Map Update Service

Navigon FreshMaps Map Update Service

Navigon Fresh Maps Map Update Service

The product was delivered in due time. I was not in a hurry and when it was sent through the postal service you just need to be patient. The product worked as promised and was much more reasonable on price than any where else I found. Just be sure to look good at the code needed to start the system because they are not very clear sometimes and the only problem I experienced was entering the proper code to get the update.

FreshMaps...a difficult and frustrating installation

This review deals with my problems installing FreshMaps onto my Navigon 2120 GPS. I make no comments as to how the updates worked once finally installed. (I will try to comment, at a later date, on the functionality of the product once I've had time to assess it) I purchased the Navigon FreshMaps card, and activated the service through the Navigon website by typing in the access code found on the card. So far no problem. I then attempted to download the FreshMaps that were now available from a program I'd previously downloaded, called 'Navigon Fresh'. BTW, I believe all downloads from Navigon are now done via the 'Navigon Fresh' program. Having it on my computer would enable me to do the following very useful things... 1.) update software. 2.) download FreshMaps and 3.) Make Backups of the my GPS Navigon SD card on my computer. I connected my GPS to my computer via the correct USB cable and pressed the down load link. A message appears stating there was no MN (My Navigon) software on my SD card. I checked my SD card...there was a MN file on the card...what's up??? Next I tried connecting the SD card to my computer via a SD reader. Eureka, success! When I pressed download FreshMaps it responded, but when it came time to actually download the software, it tells me the Navigon SD card is full and I'll have to delete something from it to make room. Apparently the 'new' software doesn't overwrite the 'old' software. So I start deleting some files from my Navigon SD card (making a backup first), but I still got the 'not enough space on the SD' message every time. Getting a larger, 4 GB SD card for example, was not an option, as no one makes anything larger than 2GB card for regular SD. There is a 4GB SDHC card (Scan Disc High Capacity) but this would not function in my Navigon GPS (I know, I tried). So I decided to go out and buy another 2GB SD card (more $$ spent!!). I inserted it into the reader, pressed download, and I got the message 'no MN software' on the SD card...WOW, stymied again!! So as a last resort I copied a 'MN' file from my backed-up copy onto the new blank SD card and...it worked! Finally after all the snafus, I was able to begin the download of the NEW FreshMaps I'd purchased. And even then, this download took 4-5 hours on a DSL connection! BUT, I got it downloaded, installed and my GPS is now working with the latest maps. Conclusion: I guess what is SO annoying is the lack of download/installation instructions with this product. There was no hint as to any unusual installation procedures on the FreshMaps package or the Navigon website. What should have been a seamless, easy download/installation, wasn't; it turned out to be an exercise in frustration. I was lucky, if I hadn't thought to copy the 'MN file' onto the new blank SD card this update would never have downloaded and worked. You know, maybe I missed something obvious in the download procedure or I didn't see something, a 'it's right in front of you' moment...but I don't think so. I hope my trials and tribulations with this product will help someone else. This very well may be an excellent set of updated maps, but if you can't download/install them a little easier than this, it's hardly worth the effort. For the inconvenience and the lack of the barest of info regarding downloading and installation procedures... 1 Star R.Nicholson

Fresh Maps

Seems easy enough. My Navigon 2100 Max came with the latest version, so i'm just waiting for their next update.

RATE WHAT?

HOW CAN YOU RATE AN ITEM THAT ISN'T OUT YET, PURCHASED THE PRODUCT ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT ITS NOT OUT YET "COMMING JULY OF 07" WELL IT'S JULY 28th AND STILL NO PRODUCT----- NAVIGON SAYS "WE LET YOU KNOW WHEN READY?????

Navigon rocks

While the next map update with this service is not scheduled until July 08 there is a free software update that includes a map update available already on their website. I really like how the product handles and the convenience of the map update.

Navigon 4.3-Inch Protective Hard-Shell Case

Navigon 4.3-Inch Protective Hard-Shell Case

GPS Holder

The holder for my GPS systems is great and I would recommend it to all.

Navigon 4.3-inch protective hard-shell case

In terms of protection, the hard case is great. But it does not have a space to contain the cable to carry. If the manufacturer makes the pocket that the cable can be stored, this case will be super.

Convenient Carrier

This little carrier is very convenient for protecting your new gps. Very easy to zip up and toss in your purse. A good buy.

GPS Case

Love the case! It works perfectly and was a great deal. Fast delivery, as well!

Great Item

This is a great item. I love it...my Magellan is safe and secure in it.

Sony GPS-CS1KASP GPS Unit for Sony Digital Cameras

Sony GPS-CS1KASP GPS Unit for Sony Digital Cameras

It works

This is a handy little electronic "toy". I use only Sony video and still cameras so it works perfectly for me. I don't know if I would buy it if I used other manufacturers cameras. It WAS overpriced, but for around $100 it is now more competative. There are other products like this out there, but I wanted to stay with Sony due to my cameras being Sony.

Apple iPod mini nano mp3 player Sony Ericsson Motorola Nokia Samsung LG phone car / auto mount universal vent + dash holder GPS navigation

Apple iPod mini nano mp3 player Sony Ericsson Motorola Nokia Samsung LG phone car / auto mount universal vent + dash holder GPS navigation

How can it be so inexpensive

There are a lot of fancy, expensive mounts out there for your ipod, cell phone, etc. But I don't any of them does a better job than this simple beauty. The vent clip is genius and actually worked very well in my '06 Malibu. Very secure. And this thing grips both my cell phone and my Ipod Mini very well. Maybe it won't last very long and that's why it's so cheap. I could see the spring loaded pop out arm breaking after a while, but this thing is so inexpensive, it won't matter a bit. I'm thinking of buying a couple of spares in case it is no longer available when and if the current one breaks.

Works great

Not only does this auto mount work great for my 2G ipod nano, but also my cell phone, my wife's blackberry, and probably many other devices. Its adjustable, making it extremely versatile.

A lot of quality

This handy gadget has a lot of quality built into it... especially considering the price. Hardly any instructions but with a little imagination you can easily figure it out. There's a button you press and the sides spring open. Put your phone on the foam padding and squeeze the sides and it holds your phone securely... no rattling off. To remove the phone, twist it a bit and it pops out. Next time you just push it between the clamps and it's secure. Or you could always use the button. Great product! Very good quality. Highly recommended.

This cheap product works great

This product works great - and with the adjustable arm it should work with almost any mp3 player or cell phone. I have GPS on my cell phone (Cingular 8125 with Bluetooth GPS) and I wanted this to hold it where it can be seen while driving. This clipped perfectly into my Chevy Silverado's vent and I can turn the vent to face me. It is pretty hard to take off, so make sure you connect it where you really want it. But I highly recommend this, this is much better than holders that require drilling holes or leaving sticky spots behind when they are removed.

Excellent product!

I bought this as a gift for my husband. He loves it! He was especially happy with the expandable side. His cell phone, ipod, and zune will all fit perfectly in this one little holder that snapped easily into his vent. This little guy was defnitely worth buying!

Polar RS100 Heart Rate Monitor and Stopwatch

Polar RS100 Heart Rate Monitor and Stopwatch

HRM that actually works!

I had tried a timex hrm before this and it didnt even come close in accuracy. Even though the RS100 is a bit more than some of the timex models its well worth the money. It is accurate and simple enough to use. I would actually reccomend this one over the RS200 since that model seems to have more problems. The only gripe I had was the T31 chest strap which always felt like it was slipping down while I ran. Although my dog has recently destroyed the T31 transmitter and I am looking forward to getting the Wearlink chest strap which looks to be an improvement over the contemporary design. Apparently my dog didnt like the T31 either....

Decent Product, Decent Value

Purchased as a replacement HRM, The unit does what its intended to do and it does it well. The quirks of changing face information or retrieving data takes a while to learn and get used to. The push-button sequencing doesn't always seem intuitive, but - the good news is - its easy to learn. I don't use my HRM as a watch except as a convenience after working out, so that feature is fairly useless to me, anyway. One simple improvement would be a strap thats a notch or two bigger - I have to wear my unit at the end notch making it somewhat more difficult to fasten and unfasten. Given the quirks and a design you have to grow into, its a decent product and a fair value.

Excellent running watch and heart monitor!

There's a reason Polar sits on top of the heart-rate monitor heap, and that's because they do it better than anyone else. This watch/monitor has received accolades for years from runners, all well-deserved. It worked straight out of the box, the manual was clearly written, and I have been happily sweating and putting this monitor through its paces as I train for my next half marathon.

LOVE THIS HRM!

I recently purchased this Heart rate monitor less then a week ago..took me a day to get all the functions down and I wore it for the first time yesterday while working out.. I have wanted one for a LONG time and while working out yesterday I saw I burned 400 calories running 2 miles and another 400 during my Weight lifting class "body pump" which lasts and hour...I was so suprised I cant wait to wear it again and try to burn more and more...5 stars from me!

Just what I needed !!

I have had some another HR watches, but nothing like this, this is just great, I've been using is since the very first day, no problems so far, easy setup, ease to navegate thru all features. I use it most in my spinning class, also while I'm running and sometimes when I play outdoor soccer, it gives you an idea of your workout. Haven't try in the pool, I'm just afraid stop working, but I'll give a try once the summer comes :). If you are planing to buy a HR Monitor watch, this is one of the best options, Timex are good, but compare with the price this is much better. Sunnto watches are nice, but to small for me, and a little bit more expensive. I love my "chaparrita".

Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Dark Blue)

Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Dark Blue)

Works Perfectly!

I bought this model well over a year ago. I use it 5-6 times a week during my walks outside and indoors on the treadmill and on my stair-climber. I wanted to make sure I am working in the zone -- not too high and not too low. For me, this has been an absolutely perfect device. I wanted the watch feature (not just a heat monitor) and this model does both. It has other features I don't use as I keep it simple, yet it is still simple to use. The chest strap stays in place and is very comfortable. You can adjust it so that is fits your body. Would purchase again. I paid $70 at a local sports equipment store. You can find them cheaper on amazon and ebay.

Simple easy to use

I purchased this to monitor my HR for optimum results while jogging. It took about 5 minutes to set up and learn to use, and now I just put it on and it gives me what I need - no hassles or fumbling with buttons while I run. After using it for about 2 months I have found that some more features would be nice, like lap or split times, but that's no big deal. For the price this monitor is a great value, but now I have taken up bike riding and also need a bike computer :-) Time to do some more shopping.

Cheap Plastic

This product works just fine, but if you bump the cheap plastic face against a wall, tree, etc it scratches and ruins the watch!

Good HRM - slightly small face and stiff band

I use it for timing a workout and average heart rate. During a workout it displays whether you are under, at, or over your target heart zone. The HRM has hd no problem in picking up the heart rate signal and displaying the heart rate. It comes with a coded transmitter which is worn around the chest. At times the initial setup menus were a little confusing since there is only one button which is used to configure the watch. It took me a couple of tries to figure out how to turn off the beep each time it would pick up the heart signal. The instructions are not clear on this point. I also find the watch face slightly small for a male wrist. Polar likely had to choose a unisex size for the face. The band is a little stiff - and if you have a large wrist, you might find the band tight. Otherwise, a good, fairly stratight forward HRM.

POLAR HEART RATE MONITOR FS1

A good starter HRM. I liked that only one button is needed to access and change all the settings. However, if you want the convenience of having your HR shown as a percentage, or need a backlight because you exercise outdoors in the evenings, or track calories burned, or a unique code to prevent "crosstalk" with other HRM users close by, or be able to link to the Polar website, then this is not for you. Choose the FS2 or FS3. BOTTOMLINE: Before deciding on which HRM model to buy, define what your requirements are and check if the model you are choosing has these features.

Garmin Handlebar Mounting Unit for GPS 60 Series

Garmin Handlebar Mounting Unit for GPS 60 Series

Holds GPS securely. Won't fit well on large diameter handlebars

First, mounting was tricky as the unit will not fit larger diameter handlebars very well at all. I did not end up with the position of the GPS that I wanted, but it's close enough. As for securely mounting the GPS? I've riden several hundred miles since installing it without incident. This includes a 17 MPH body slam (@#!$ wet railroad tracks!) that left me looking at my front wheel with sky in the background (pain starts here)but the GPS still securely in it's mount. I can see from the construction of the mount that there are weak areas that may be a problem down the road. Also, getting GPS in and out of the mount with one hand is a trick. All told, a good value.

Ok product

Nice original Garmin product. The rubber spacers that came with the unit are useless, the 2mm is too thin and the 5mm is too thick, leaving me with a unit that will not stay in place on my ATV. Once I improvise, I fear that my results in the field will be the same as already reported... needing extra reinforcememt to keep it in place.

Excellent mount for Mountain Bike

This mount works great to utilize our GPS units while mountain biking. Mount stays steady and holds GPS great. Great mount for the price.

Garmin GPS 60CS Handlebar Mount

I have purchased 5 of these items and they break after 5-6 months of street riding. I'm glad I had the fore thought of using the GPS strap to secure the unit to my handlebar or the GPS would have bounced on the concrete street. I really enjoy the GPS unit and the handlebar mount is a great idea --- I only wish it would not break for no reason!

Motorcycle GPS holder.

I've used my GPS while on my cycle, and it's really quite a dangerous challenge. Try to hold the GPS and steer, shift, brake, turn...all with one hand. This holder, which I just received, looks like the answer to a real need. It will attach my GPS to the handlebar where I can see it as I ride, and allow me to remove it with a press of a button. The base of the holder stays on the bike, and is so small as to not even be noticed by passers-by.

Garmin 010-10889-00 Forerunner 305/205 Quick Release Kit

Garmin 010-10889-00 Forerunner 305/205 Quick Release Kit

Write band & bike mount work well

I prefer the wrist band in the quick release kit over the wrist band that came with the FR 305--given the bulkiness of the 305, the wrist band that comes with it is a bit awkward. Its a good design that held the FR 305 in place for a number of rides & runs.

An essential accessory

For anyone who both runs and bikes, this kit is essential to make the most of the Garmin 305. Add the cadence kit and you have a terrific bike and run electronic trainer for very reasonable money. Kit assembles in a few minutes and seems well-engineered to hold up to many swaps from wrist to handlebar (which is a MUCH better place for viewing while on the bike. I can't imagine any complaints arising unless the user fails to apprehend how to use it!

Q-R wrist strap OK but hard on 305 attachment points

Quick Release kit is OK but if you're back and forth between a bike and your wrist a lot I fear the plastic on the Forerunner may wear prematurely due to high torque loads when removing the unit from the plastic cradle.

Simple but it works

I bought 2. One for my road bike and one for my mt. bike. They are easy to install and you can set the angle on the handle bars for viewing to fit your needs. I am very happy with the mount.

Great Accesory to Forerunner 305

This definitely makes wearing and changing over the Forerunner 305 so much nicer and easier. Personally I hate putting on plastic watch bands on for numerous reasons but one of them is that my skin starts breaking out when I start sweating...which obviously occurs every time I would wear this. Very easy to use...everyone should get this!
